Viral Video: In cities everywhere, everyday commutes conceal untold stories, nearly 56% of women in urban India have faced sexual harassment on public transport, yet most incidents go unreported.
This silent crisis shadows millions, unseen yet deeply felt. Today, that uneasy whisper bursts into view when a single video captures more than just a stare, it reflects a wider, rising menace we cannot ignore.
Viral Video Captures Creepy Staring, Sparks Mass Outrage
This incident unravelled like a tightrope walk between fear and resolve. Sunanda Roy shared a clip on X showing a busy bus where a man shamelessly stared at a woman’s chest, trying hard to peep while sitting beside her.
She even glared back, hoping to stop him, but he refused. The girl, refusing to remain silent, filmed the entire creepiness on her phone. Sadly, such disturbing encounters are part of everyday life. These creeps are not men, they are demons hiding in plain sight!
Women Regularly Face Harassment on Public Transport
Such indignities are hardly isolated. In June 2025, a vlogger in Kerala finally saw her harasser arrested two years after he inappropriately touched and attempted to masturbate on a KSRTC bus in Angamaly; the man was later bailed.
Another incident in July 2025 saw a 56-year-old man sentenced to three years in prison under IPC for sexually harassing a fellow passenger on a Maharashtra ST bus. These cases echo the grim truths of harassment caught on camera.
Experts Demand Urgent Measures to Ensure Women’s Safety
Safety experts and transport watchdogs emphasise that public transport harassment videos must lead to action, not just awareness. Activist groups advise strict enforcement of the law, vigilance by bus staff, and targeted safety training.
They argue that installing emergency buttons and CCTV, plus enforcing public transport laws, could reduce such incidents. The aim is simple: make women feel safe during everyday rides, not token gestures.
Netizens Condemn Creepy Behaviour, Demand Strict Action Online
The viral video stirred countless emotions, each comment echoing the frustration women silently carry every day. One user commented, ““Absolutely / predators every where .. esp in buses diii ..Public transports .social platforms,” expressing sheer anger at how harassment has seeped into daily spaces.
Another remarked, “She could’ve confronted him for what he did, even slapping him would’ve been a better option,” reflecting impatience with silence. A user added, “Confront the dog… make some noise and let the crowd take care of him,” voicing a call for collective resistance. Lastly, one wrote, “Clothes are not an issue. Proved,” reinforcing that victim-blaming has no place.
This viral video underlines a deep issue: public transport harassment incidents need more than attention; they demand change. Everyday harassment captured on camera must drive real reform, awareness, and protection.
