Viral Video: In a now viral video, netizens are left in tears over the selfless love of an elephant mother on seeing the body of her lifeless calf. The video, which was documented in November 2024, was posted by IFS Officer Parveen Kaswan.

The video, which was filmed in a forest in India, captures a mother elephant mourning the loss of her calf. In the video, the mother elephant could be seen trying to move and nudge her calf’s body repeatedly in hopes of reviving him back. Despite no reaction from the calf, the elephant mother keeps dragging the calf’s body, refusing to leave it behind.

Elephants are known for their remarkable emotional intelligence that rivals many other species, including human beings. When an herb member is distressed, others in the group immediately rush to console them with trunk touches, rumbling sounds and chirps. They even try their level best to aid injured companions, stopping to help without self-risk.
Elephants mourn deaths, covering bodies with branches, and rejoice at reunions with ear flaps and trunk entwining.
