China: Taiwan will Not Accept Unilateral Unification Decision Of China – Taiwan’s Deputy Prime Minister Tien Chung-Kwang

China: Tien Chung-Kwang, Taiwan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, reiterated Taiwan’s sovereignty on Monday last. Tien said that Taiwan will not accept any unilateral decision taken by China.

Will China opt for forcible unification – Is another Ukrainian adventure on the cards?

China’s adventurous desire for reunification with Taiwan gets more pressing with each passing day, according to Tien Chung-Kwang, the self-governing island’s deputy foreign minister, who reiterated Taiwan’s sovereignty on Monday, said that Taiwan will not accept any unilateral decision taken by China and that peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait must be taken seriously at all times.

The Taiwan Strait is located in the Taiwan Strait, which does not fall under China’s authority – Tien said that the EU’s support for Taiwan has been more perceptible in recent years, as shown by increased military exercises by China in the Taiwan Strait.

Taiwan may not yield to China’s RHETORIC

The terse statement of Tien comes against the backdrop of the 20th National Party Congress, where Chinese President, Xi Jinping emphatically pronounced that Beijing would not relinquish the option to use force for reuniting the island nation, saying that it will never compromise on the values of sovereignty, democracy, and freedom, a position that has remained inactive since 1982.

Is Jinping looking for an opportunity to promote himself at par with Mao?

Jinping is a contriving ally of ‘Putin’, this is the most opportune time for him to take a leaf from Putin’s adventurous invasion of Ukraine. While President Vladimir Putin might be attempting to elevate his credentials as the greatest Russian leader, Xi-Jinping may also try similarly in Taiwan to promote himself at par with Mao Zedong, if not above. But, the Taiwan invasion may not be as easy as compared with Ukraine.

Pew poll survey suggests more Americans are with Taiwan

A recent Pew Poll survey conducted in the US from Oct. 10-16 and gathered responses from 5,098 U.S. adults with a sampling error of plus or minus 1.7 percentage points shows an 8% increase in the percentage of Americans who believe tensions between China and Taiwan are a serious problem since March. It confirms that more and more American nationals are united now against any Chinese misadventure in Taiwan. Besides, China has won more foes than friends, for the Wuhan experiments with the Covid-19 virus. Moreover, Putin is himself a master in geopolitics and may lend ideological support to Xi-Jinping, but without any military assistance. In case of a China-Taiwan war, the US will not remain silent or alienated; will join Taiwan with military exercises in the Taiwanese straits. The NATO forces will also come from behind, one by one.

Jinping to follow Sun Tzu’s ‘The Art of War’

Do you think Jinping is unaware of all these facts? He is one of the shrewdest politicians of present times, who will manoeuvre his strategies, very clandestinely. I am assured that Xi believes and follows the line of the famous Chinese author of “The Art of War” ‘Sun Tzu’. Here are a few famous art-of-war lines of ‘Sun Tzu’:

  • The Supreme Art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.
  • He will win who knows the art ‘When to fight and when not to.
  • All men can see these tactics whereby I conquer, but what none can see is the strategy out of which victory is evolved.
  • Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.
  • To fight and conquer in all our battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy’s resistance without fighting.

Will China invade Taiwan?

At this juncture, it appears implausible for China to wage a full-scale war on Taiwan. The strategy that Beijing might put forward is one of putting maximum pressure on Taiwan through its constant rhetoric, coercing and isolating the economic, political, diplomatic, and even international domain from the Taiwanese population. (Sun Tzu’s policy). So, military options are now a foregone conclusion. They would like to take over Taiwan without having to fire a single bullet.

Why does Xi Jinping give so much importance to Taiwan?

There are at least three main reasons why the Chinese Communist Party is concerned so much about Taiwan.

  • The first one is a historic explanation. They would like to put an end to the civil war and make sure that the Republic of China, the pre-existing political regime in mainland China, disappears forever.
  • The second one is a military objective – to deepen the strategic depth in front of the Chinese coast and to have free access to the Pacific Ocean.
  • And the third one is an ideological objective. The ideological reason is to get rid of a countermodel. Mainland China has only known and practised a brutal dictatorship, but there remains Taiwan which prides itself on democracy. Taiwan is a Chinese cultural society that is multi-ethnic and has transitioned to democracy from within.

So what China intends to pursue is not only the expansion of its territory, but the Communist Party of China aspires to destroy the cultural, political and ideological identity of Taiwan, once and for all.
