As per media reports a Senior European Union (EU) has issued a stern warning to China , that it would impose sanctions if China supplies weapons to Russia in its war with Ukraine. EU official has termed the warning to China as a red line and this recent comment also echo’s the remarks made by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz , who had also warned China in providing such aid to Russia as it wages brutal war on Ukraine.
EU issues warning to China
Chancellor Scholz said in a speech to the German Parliament stated,
“Don’t deliver any weapons to the aggressor Russia”.
In the meantime China has denied any intention to provide arms to the Russian Federation. However US National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby stated that China could also provide lethal weapons to Russia and escalate the tensions in the region.
Kirby further stated that administration still does not,
“believe that they’ve made the decision to move forward”
“We don’t believe they’ve taken it off the table”.
Top diplomats from Europe have stated that West needs to be careful regarding support which might be provided to China from Russia , after US officials warned that China has firmed up its plans to Russia.
