The security situation in Pakistan’s Balochistan province has worsened after a deadly Baloch attack on a military convoy. Reports indicate that a powerful explosion struck a Pakistani Army convoy in Noshki, killing several soldiers. Official sources confirmed that at least five troops lost their lives and more than ten were injured. However, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claims the actual death toll is much higher, with 90 military personnel killed in the ambush.

The attack highlights the growing insurgency in Balochistan, where armed groups continue to target security forces. The rising number of incidents raises concerns about whether Pakistan is losing control over the volatile region.

Baloch Liberation Army Claims Responsibility

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist militant group, has taken full responsibility for the attack. The convoy was traveling along the Noshki–Dalbandin highway when a massive explosion struck. Reports indicate that a suicide bomber from the BLA’s Majeed Brigade targeted a military bus using a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) near Rakhshan Mill on the RCD Highway.

Following the explosion, BLA’s Fateh Squad launched a second wave of attack. They completely surrounded another military bus and systematically eliminated all soldiers onboard. This brought the total number of casualties to 90, according to BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch.

The BLA released an official statement accepting responsibility for the attack:

Pakistan's Military on High Alert

The deadly ambush has prompted Pakistan’s security forces to launch an investigation into the attack. The area has been cordoned off, and a search operation is underway to track down the insurgents. Military officials have expressed concern over the increasing frequency of BLA attacks in the region.

The Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provinces have become hotspots for militant activity. In the last 24 hours, there have been over 40 attacks, including suicide bombings, IED explosions, and grenade attacks targeting security forces. The growing unrest has put the Pakistani government on high alert.

Baloch Insurgency Escalates After Recent Train Hijacking

This Baloch attack comes just days after the BLA hijacked a train carrying more than 400 passengers traveling from Quetta to Peshawar. The standoff lasted two days, ending after a military operation neutralised the attackers. The recent wave of attacks indicates a sharp escalation in insurgent activities across Pakistan’s restive regions.

As the BLA intensifies its offensive, the Pakistani government faces increasing pressure to regain control over Balochistan.
