During this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at the Quad summit, “We are united for our democratic values and our commitment to a free and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.” Prime Minister Modi said that I see this positive attitude as an extension of the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam of India, which considers the whole world as one family.
US President Joe Biden said that the Quad is going to be an important platform for cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. “The quad is going to be an important area in the Indo-Pacific region and I look forward to working with you all in the coming years,” Biden said. Biden told Prime Minister Modi, “It was great to see you.”
Australia’s PM Scott Morrison said that in the 21st century, the Indo-Pacific will write the fate of the world. “Our partnership as the four leaders of great democracy in the Indo-Pacific will bring peace, stability and prosperity,” said Morrison.
The Quad is actually a group of four countries – India, Japan, Australia and the United States – and since its inception in 2007, representatives of these four member countries have been meeting from time to time. In the year 2017, a fresh discussion was started between the four countries of the Quad, which has gained a lot of momentum within the last one year. Foreign ministers of the four countries have also met in this regard.
Addressing the inaugural session of the summit, Biden said that the Quad has emerged as a new mechanism to enhance cooperation. He said in a clear reference to China, “We know our commitments … Our region is governed by international law, we are committed to all universal values and free from any pressure but I am optimistic about our possibility.” ‘
