Kim Jong Un’s Sister Insults Joe Biden

In response to a new US-South Korean agreement to step up nuclear deterrence to counter the North’s nuclear threat, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un claims her country will make more provocative military displays. She claims this demonstrates their “extreme” hostility towards Pyongyang.

Additionally, Kim Yo Jong hurled personal jabs at US President Joe Biden, who said on Wednesday following a meeting with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol that any nuclear strike by North Korea against the US or its allies would “result in the end of whatever regime” took such action.

Yoon and Biden’s meeting in Washington took place at a time when the tempo of both the joint US-South Korean military drills and the North Korean weapons demonstrations has accelerated in a cycle of tit-for-tat.

About 100 missiles have been tested by North Korea

About 100 missiles have been tested by North Korea since the beginning of 2022, including several intercontinental ballistic missile tests aimed at the US mainland and a number of short-range launches the North characterised as practise nuclear attacks on South Korea.

As he continues to speed up a drive to secure the North’s reputation as a nuclear state and ultimately negotiate US economic and security concessions from a position of strength, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is largely expected to boost the ante in the upcoming weeks or months.

Biden and Yoon launched new nuclear deterrence initiatives during their summit, including the regular docking of US nuclear-armed submarines in South Korea for the first time in decades and increased training between the two nations.

In the case of a nuclear assault by North Korea, they also agreed on plans for bilateral presidential meetings, the development of a nuclear consultative body, and improved information sharing regarding operational plans for nuclear and strategic weapons.

The US-South Korean deal, according to Kim Yo Jong, reflects the partners’ “most hostile and aggressive will of action” against the North and will put regional peace and security in “more serious danger.” Kim Yo Jong made this claim in remarks that were published on official media.

One of her brother’s senior foreign policy advisers, Kim, claimed that the summit boosted the North’s resolve to improve its nuclear weapons capabilities. She made a clear reference to the North’s increasing nuclear doctrine, which calls for preemptive nuclear strikes in a variety of situations where it may feel its leadership is in danger when she said it would be crucial for the country to perfect the “second mission of the nuclear war deterrent.”
