Michelle Obama to welcome Barack Obama as the first guest on her podcast series

Michelle Obama is launching a new podcast series and the debut episode will feature none other than former president and her husband – Barack Obama.

Obama will join his wife on the first episode of The Michelle Obama Podcast which is schduled to stream on Spotify. The show will be a series of interviews where America’s first black lady will host one guest per episode. It is scheduled to stream from July 29.

“I can’t wait for you all to hear the conversations I’ve been having for the #MichelleObamaPodcast,” she tweeted.

“My mom, my girlfriends, my colleagues, and many others all stop by, along with someone you’re pretty familiar with: @BarackObama is my first guest on 7/29.”

In the debut episode, the duo will have “an intimate conversation about community, the love that powers our relationships, and their life after the White House.”

“Given everything that’s going on right now, from the killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and the ongoing protests and conversations that are testing our patience—and our consciences… not to mention all the challenges we’re experiencing due to the pandemic, I think that these days, a lot of people are questioning just where and how they can fit into a community,” Michelle Obama says at the beginning of the first episode, before introducing her husband.

Subsequent episodes will feature Washington Post columnist Michele Norris on “self in the time of COVID”; Dr. Sharon Malone, wife of former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, discussing women’s health; her older brother, Craig Robinson, talking about sibling relationships, and a subsequent episode with Craig and her mom, Marian Robinson; Conan O’Brien on marriage; and friends Malone, Kelly Dibble and Denielle Pemberton-Heard in a conversation about friendships.

The show is produced by Obama’s company, Higher Ground Productions, which has also made content deals with Netflix.
