Mystery cloud overs final fate of exiled Wagner leader Yevegeny Prigozhin, Biden says ‘If I were he, I’d be careful what I ate’

Wagner: The last reported sighting of Wagner leader Yevegeny Prigozhin was after abandoning his mutiny on June 24. Few days ago Belarussian President Alexander Lukasheno had stated that Prigozhin was not in Belarussian territory and is probably in St. Petersburg to get his affairs in order. Rumours have been circulating over the fate of Yevegeny Priogzhin. Many sources claim that he has either been killed or jailed with his whereabouts remaining unknown.

As per a White House transcript Joe Biden has stated that United States do not know where the militia leader is.” “God only knows what he’s likely to do If I were he, I’d be careful what I ate. I’d be keeping my eye on my menu.” Biden had joked. Joe Biden was speaking at summit with Nordic leaders in Helsinki.

Prigozhin refused to hand over command

After the mutiny had blown full over Putin had resolved to decisively crush the mutiny. A peace was brokered by Belasrussian President Alexander Lukashenko after which Prigozhin was provided safe passage out of Russia. After 5 days of the mutiny Putin had meet with many top commanders of Wagner and extended offers to join top positions in the Russian Military. As per a interview in Kommersant newspaper Putin said ‘Wagner does not exist.’ The Kremlin further briefed that entity known as Wagner and it’s legal status needs consideration. Referring to June 29th meeting and his comments over new leadership the Russian President said “Many [Wagner fighters] were nodding when I was saying this, And Prigozhin, who was sitting in front and didn’t see all this.” Putin said that Prigozhin commented that that the guys(Wagner members) do not agree with this decision. Russia authority is trying to establish difference between Wagner chief and Wagner fighters. An attempt to absorb remnant of Wagner forces is in place while group’s legal status is scrapped. “There is no law on private military organisations. It just doesn’t exist,” Putin further added.

New Wagner Leadership

During the June 29th meeting in Moscow, Putin had suggested that “Sedoi” — or “grey hair” — take over command. The suggestion had drawn refusal from Prigozhin who contended that Wagner fighters won’t agree to this. Andre Troshev also known as ‘Sedeoi’ is a senior Wagner commander. He is battle hardened fighter and vetrean of Russian campaigns in Afghanistan and Chechnya. Putin told Kommersant newspaper “All of them could have gathered in one place and continued to serve and nothing would have changed for them. They would have been led by the same person who had been their real commander all that time.” The Kremlin also sated that meeting of June 29 had restored fate of many of groups fighters loyalty in Putin. Russian President had met with 35 commanders from the private militia.

Biden further stated during the summit in Helsinki that Russia has already lost the war and expressed hope that Ukraine would find a way to further counteroffensive to establish a strong position beofre peace negotiations. “He’s already lost that war,” Biden said and added that Putin will eventually “decide it’s not in the interest of Russia, economically, politically or otherwise to continue this war. But I can’t predict exactly how that happens.”
