North Korea launches a ballistic missile test that can strike the whole US

North Korea: In its second significant weapons test this month, North Korea fired an intercontinental ballistic missile that touched down close to Japanese waters on Friday. This test indicated a potential capability to carry out nuclear attacks on the entire US mainland.

As China and Russia have blocked US efforts to toughen sanctions aimed at curbing North Korea’s nuclear programme, the North is continuing its relentless barrage of weapons tests in an effort to enhance its nuclear arsenal and extract larger concessions in future diplomacy.

About the ICBM launch

The ICBM was launched from North Korea’s capital area at 10:15 am, according to the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the South, and it soared over the entire nation toward the North’s eastern coast. The ICBM, according to Japan, seemed to have flown on a high trajectory and touched down west of Hokkaido.

The North Korean missile was believed to have travelled between 6,000 and 6,100 kilometres (3,600 and 3,790 miles) at a maximum height of 1,000 kilometres, according to estimations from South Korea and Japan (620 miles).

Yasukazu Hamada, the minister of defence for Japan, told reporters that the missile’s height implies a high angle of launch. The weapon, he claimed, had a range exceeding 15,000 kilometers (9,320 miles), depending on the weight of a payload to be attached to the missile, “in which case it could cover the entire mainland United States.”

A reckless act that threatens Japan as well as the region and the international community

“A reckless act that threatens Japan as well as the region and the international community,” was how Hamada described the launch. He declared that Japan would keep working closely with the US, South Korea, and other nations to plan a coordinated response to North Korean provocations.

The launch was described as “a grave provocation and severe threat” by South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff “to erode the peace and security of the world and its regions. It stated that South Korea is still prepared to respond to any provocation from North Korea with “an overwhelming response.” “while working closely with the United States.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida previously told reporters that the missile was thought to have landed at sea inside Japan’s exclusive economic zone west of Hokkaido, Japan’s largest northern island. Kishida was in Bangkok for a regional meeting.
