One killed, three wounded in Stockholm shooting

Stockholm shooting: AFP reports that one person was killed and three wounded in a shooting incident in Stockholm.

The dead was identified as a 15-year-old boy, according to the spokeswoman of the Stockholm police.

The three who are wounded include people between 15 and 65 years.

Stockholm Police say the shooting occurred in the early hours of Saturday, June 11. So far, two people have been arrested by the police. They were apprehended under an hour after the shooting incident and after a car chase.

A case of murder and attempted murder has been registered against the attackers.

No answers were given by the police about the shooting in Stockholm. However, lately, many such incidents stem from the narcotics trade in the city.

Stockholm has been battling increasing incidents of gun violence. In 2022, Sweden had 391 cases of shootings, of which 62 were fatal. This number was 45 in 2021.

On Friday, two other people were wounded in a shooting incident in Stockholm.

Crime in Sweden

According to Wikipedia, crime in Sweden has grown significantly over the past decade. This increase is hand-in-hand with the growth of the Swedish population.

The number of crimes per 100,000 population has remained stable over the past 10 years.

However, the incidences of lethal violence and sexual crimes have gone up significantly over the years.

Wikipedia says that Sweden is the only country where gun-related violence has grown very much since 2000. In 2018, Sweden had the most gun deaths in the whole of Europe.

Narcotics trade in Sweden

A www.bra.se report says that the illegal narcotics trade in Sweden is contributing significantly to gun violence.

Moreover, this trade has undergone several changes over the years. There is increasing competition among the drug mafias to control the narcotics trade in local areas. Furthermore, narcotics are easily available to anyone in Sweden through internet channels.
