Pakistan Army sacks 3 officers over violence by Imran Khan supporters

The Pakistan Army has dismissed three of the country’s highest-ranking officers, including a lieutenant general, from their posts. Apart from this, disciplinary action has been taken against three Major Generals and 7 Brigadiers.

In fact, after the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, there was violence across Pakistan on 9th May. During that time, Imran’s supporters created ruckus at many places, for which the army was also deployed. Despite this, the situation did not come under control. In this matter, the Pakistan Army has now taken action against its high officials.

A total of 102 people are currently facing trial in military courts for their involvement in the violence, said military spokesman Major General Arshad Sharif. Strict departmental action has also been taken against 15 other army officers including Major Generals and Brigadiers on the orders of the Army Chief.

He further said that after the May 9 violence, two separate inquiries were conducted by the Army. In which the negligence of these officers was found. In such a situation, it was decided to take action against him. However, the spokesperson did not disclose the names of the officials.

The military spokesman said that the incident that took place on May 9 is extremely disappointing and condemnable. It is being considered as a dark chapter in the history of Pakistan. The events of May 9 have proved that what the enemy could not do in 76 years, a group of miscreants and their helpers did. He called this rebellion a conspiracy. Also promised that action will be taken against those involved in it according to the constitution.
