Russia: Terror Attack at Military Training Ground Leaves 11 Dead and 15 Injured

Russia: According to the defence ministry, gunmen assaulted a Russian military training camp on Saturday, killing at least 11 people and injuring 15, according to Reuters. The shootings took place in the Belgorod region during a live-fire training exercise.

Authorities claim it was a ‘Terrorist Attack

When two men opened fire on volunteer troops during a target practise exercise in western Russia, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that 11 of them were killed and 15 others were injured before the shooters themselves were also slain. The event was classified as a terrorist attack by the ministry.

The terrorists “started fire with small guns on the personnel of the unit during a firearms training session with those who voluntarily expressed a desire to engage in the special military operation (against Ukraine),” a defence ministry statement was cited by RIA.

The two gunmen were killed following the attack, according to the government, and were citizens of a former Soviet country.

Another blow for Putin

Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, has recently suffered embarrassing losses, thus this is considered as another blow for him.

The attackers started shooting at a group of people who had offered to fight, according to RIA news agency. Putin’s order to mobilize the military infuriated people all around the nation and led to a mass exodus of thousands of Russians who did not want to take part in the conflict.
Since the beginning of the southern counteroffensive by the armed forces of Ukraine, nearly seven weeks ago, Russia has lost land.

In an effort to recruit 300,000 more reservists, Putin stated on Friday that more than 220,000 have already been called up. He assured them that the mobilisation would end in two weeks.

Authorities in Belgorod have regularly charged Ukraine with assaulting municipal targets, like as power lines and ammunition and fuel depots.

Tens of thousands of recently recruited Russian men are being transferred to Ukraine in a highly unpopular measure ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin in an effort to stop Ukrainian advances at the same time as the tragedy.
