Russia-Ukraine conflict: It were Ukrainian Missiles In Poland Whilst World Hounded Russia – Misleading Information Could Have Escalated To WW3

Russia-Ukraine conflict: An S-300 missile from the Russia-Ukraine conflict landed in Poland earlier this week. The Soviet-era missile resulted in the death of two people at a grain facility. It was initially obscure which side the weapon was fired by. Scores of misleading information hounded Russia for this misadventure that had the inherent potential to escalate into a full-scale warfare together with majority of stake holders. Until a recent revelation that exposed Ukrainian’s misdirected missile assault on Russia which exploded in Poland.

When the whole world was casting aspersion on Russia for firing missiles on Poland, the situation worsened to an extent where World War 3 was imminent. The deadly missile was speculated to be Russian.  Little did we know that it was a misdirected missile from their arch-rivals Ukraine who in order to attain supremacy in the ongoing armed struggle in the region fired one of those missiles, that landed in adjoining country – Poland.

Ukraine misfired at Poland

As reports suggest that the missile that hit on Poland was a result of Ukraine’s malfunctioning missile defense system. According to the IISS Military Balance, the Ukrainians had about 250 S-300s before the war. The United States and NATO have sent additional systems borrowed from Eastern European allies. S-300s are an easy system for the Ukrainians to incorporate since they have used it for years.

By that time the spark had been ignited for vested interests of Ukraine. It was implausibly unviable for Ukraine to take onus of its disastrous miscarriage, because the still-born had by then overtaken the world into a storm that might have resulted into far reaching consequences. The stage is now set for newer aspirations with renewed geopolitical compulsions.

Poland denied any Russian involvement

Fortunately for Russia the Polish President Andrzej Duda has categorically stated, “There is no conclusive evidence about who fired the rocket.” However, he also said – it appeared that the strike had something to do with Ukraine, “From the information that we and our allies have, it was an S-300 rocket made in the Soviet Union, an old rocket and there is no evidence that it was launched by the Russian side,”

Biden too denied Russian involvement

The United States President Joe Biden has also said that it is unlikely that the missile strike was carried out by Russia. “It is unlikely in the lines of the trajectory that it was fired from Russia.  Biden stressed upon”.

On its part, Russia too had denied claims that suggested Moscow’s involvement for the strike. Russia’s defence minister has claimed that the missile strike was a “deliberate provocation with the goal of escalating the situation”.

What is the S-300 that landed in Poland?

The S-300 is a legacy Soviet medium-range air defense weapon system with surface to air missiles. It was first put into operation in the late 1970s after a decade of development. According to the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), there are several versions of the S-300 rocket, with different technical capabilities and ranges. The maximum range of the Soviet era missile is 150 km (93 miles) and the warheads weigh 133-143 kg (293-315 lb). It is not yet known which version was responsible for the incident in Poland.

The S-300 system was intended to shoot down aircraft, drones and incoming cruise and ballistic missiles. S-300 launchers include detection radars that track incoming targets and also have guidance systems to automatically latch on to targets. Several individual missiles can be fired simultaneously at multiple targets.
