In the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 17, Mithilesh Kumar from Bihar surprised everyone by walking away from the Rs 50 lakh question on Delhi’s Red Fort. Even though he knew the correct answer, he chose to play it safe and took home Rs 25 lakh.

Big B asked him, “The architect credited with designing Delhi’s Red Fort has the name of a city in his own name. Which city is it?” 

The options were:

A. Istanbul

B. Herat

C. Lahore

D. Mashhad. 

Mithilesh used his ‘50-50’ lifeline but decided not to risk the money. Before leaving, he picked Lahore (the correct answer), shocking the audience and host Amitabh Bachchan.

Mithilesh Shared His Story On The Show

The show also shared Mithilesh’s personal journey. A tuition teacher from Nawada, Bihar, he lost both parents and takes care of his younger brother. Talking about his late mother, he said, “Woh AB sir ke saath baithe dekhti toh bahot khush hoti.”

Adding some humour, Mithilesh asked his brother to count the zeros in Rs 50 lakh, leaving him puzzled. He also shared funny moments about his brother enjoying Mumbai, from exploring the hotel fridge to using the landline and shower.

Big B wished viewers a happy Ganesh Chaturthi and fed modak to Mithilesh. He praised Mithilesh for his hard work and dedication, especially how he looks after his younger brother. Earning only Rs 8,000–9,000 per month, Mithilesh impressed everyone with his knowledge and calmness.

He admitted being nervous about the big question, but the KBC team supported him. His brother Ankush hoped he might win Rs 1 crore. Still, Mithilesh’s choice to quit ensured a safe and respectable win, earning applause from Amitabh and the audience.
