Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi fans got a major relief on Wednesday when the Allahabad High Court dismissed a plea to stop the release of Jolly LLB 3. The petition had targeted the song “Bhai Vakeel Hai,” claiming it defamed the judiciary and the legal profession.
Allahabad HC Rejects Plea To Stop Jolly LLB Release
The court (led by Justice Sangeeta Chandra and Justice Brij Raj Singh) reviewed the lyrics, trailer, and teaser. It said, “We did not find any objectionable matter to warrant interference by this Court. We have also gone through the lyrics of the song ‘Bhai Vakeel Hai’ and we do not find anything which may interfere in the practice of the legal profession by genuine Advocates.” The plea was dismissed without imposing any costs.
Pune Court Issues Notices To Akshay Kumar And Makers
Even though the Allahabad High Court allowed the film’s release, Jolly LLB 3 still faces legal hurdles. On August 20, a Pune court issued notices to Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi after lawyer Wajid Khan Bidkar complained that the movie mocks the judiciary.
Bidkar specifically objected to a scene where judges are referred to as “mamu,” a slang term. The court has asked the lead actors to appear on September 28 for further proceedings.
Ajmer District Bar Association Also Against Jolly LLB 3
Earlier (in May 2024), the Ajmer District Bar Association also raised objections. Chandrabhan, its president, said the film shows lawyers and judges in an “inappropriate, humorous and indecent” way. He requested the court to stop the shooting happening in Ajmer, including at the DRM office.
Chandrabhan told NBT, “It seems that the filmmakers, directors and actors do not respect the dignity and prestige of the judiciary of the country’s Constitution at all. Even during the shooting of this film, the actors of the film do not seem to be at all serious about the image, prestige and dignity of the judiciary, including the judges.”

About The Franchise
Jolly LLB was first released in 2013, starring Arshad Warsi and Saurabh Shukla. Its sequel in 2017 featured Akshay Kumar and Huma Qureshi. The franchise (produced by Star Studio18 and directed by Subhash Kapoor) combines courtroom drama with comedy.
The latest third instalment Jolly LLB 3 brings together Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, Saurabh Shukla, Huma Qureshi, Amrita Rao, and Gajraj Rao. Fans are excited to see how the latest part mixes humour, courtroom drama, and social commentary, just like the earlier films.
While the Allahabad High Court has cleared the film, the Pune and Ajmer cases are still pending. The makers remain cautious as the release approaches. Despite these controversies, anticipation for Jolly LLB 3 continues to build, and audiences are eager for its theatrical debut.
