Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 has set the Indian box office on fire. The film, which opened to an explosive response on Dussehra, continues to dominate theatres across the country. Fans are celebrating the movie for its storytelling, scale, and Shetty’s powerhouse performance.

As the film enters its first weekday phase, trade experts say the drop in daily numbers is natural but still impressive given its record-breaking start.

Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection Day 5

Kantara Chapter 1 had a strong start at the box office with an opening of Rs 61.85 cr on its first Thursday. The film performed best in Hindi and Kannada markets, collecting Rs 18.5 cr and Rs 19.6 cr respectively, while Telugu and Tamil versions added another solid push.

On its first Friday, the film saw a natural dip, earning Rs 45.4 cr, with collections from Hindi and Telugu belts still holding steady. However, the weekend brought a boost again as the film picked up pace on Saturday with Rs 55 cr, led by strong word of mouth in North and South regions.

Sunday turned out to be the biggest day of the weekend, with Kantara Chapter 1 earning Rs 63 cr across languages. The Hindi version contributed the most with Rs 23 cr, followed by impressive numbers from Kannada and Tamil markets.

As expected, Monday saw a drop with early estimates of Rs 30.50 cr net. With this, Kantara Chapter 1 has managed to collect a massive Rs 255.75 cr in India within just five days

In just a few days, Kantara Chapter 1 has shattered multiple records. It has surpassed the collections of Su From So (Rs 92 cr), Sitaare Zameen Par (Rs 167 cr), Lokah Chapter 1 (Rs 153 cr), and even the domestic total of KGF Chapter 1 (Rs 185 cr). What makes this even more remarkable is that the film has achieved this without relying on heavy pre-release hype or a star-studded promotional campaign.

Interestingly, the film has also outperformed Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2. The much-anticipated Telugu actioner collected Rs 164.25 cr in its first five days, which is around 38% lower than Kantara Chapter 1. This milestone positions Rishab Shetty’s film as one of the strongest performers of the year so far, even outpacing films backed by bigger marketing budgets and fanbases.

If the momentum continues, Kantara Chapter 1 could reach the Rs 1000 cr global mark. That would place it alongside all-time blockbusters like Dangal, Baahubali 2, KGF Chapter 2, and Jawan.

About The Film

Directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 is a prequel set a thousand years before the original Kantara. The film follows Berme (played by Shetty), a fierce warrior from the jungle village of Kantara, who faces off against the ruthless ruler Kulasekhara (Gulshan Devaiah) of the Kadamba kingdom. Their battle over land, faith, and honour forms the core of the story.

The movie also stars Rukmini Vasanth and Jayaram in key roles. The film’s gripping visuals, earthy music, and strong emotional core have resonated deeply with audiences. The climax teases Kantara Chapter 2, leaving fans eager for the next instalment.

The original Kantara (2022) was a surprise phenomenon that earned over Rs 400 cr worldwide on a modest Rs 15 cr budget.
