Khushi Kapoor is back in the spotlight, but not because of a new film. A month-old interview of her father (producer Boney Kapoor) has gone viral again. In the clip, Boney claims that Khushi got a full scholarship to the New York Film Academy (NYFA). But the internet isn’t convinced and believes he might be lying.

In his chat with Komal Nahta, Boney proudly spoke about his daughter’s acting journey. He said, “You know, Khushi was admitted to the New York Film Academy on scholarship. I didn’t have to pay the fees.” When asked about the admission process, he added, “You send your audition to decide whether you can be admitted or not. And she was offered scholarship.”

Internet Reacts To Boney’s Claim About Khushi Kapoor

His statement is again being recalled online, and social media users are calling out the claim. Check out what Reddit users said!

“Just so everyone knows, u don’t get a full-ride scholarship from this school.”

“And u also don’t get a full-ride scholarship from any accredited theatre schools, especially not the “Big” ones. U also don’t get scholarships based on just the audition, but ur involvement with the theatre programs and the various state/regional theatre awards/events u have participated in.”

“Maybe he means that he got a full refund after she started acting!!! They probably said paise wapis le lo kyunki kuch seekh hi nahi paayi bechari.”

“He didn’t pay her fees. He made a donation to the institute. Then they gave her a scholarship.”

“Imagine studying Shakespeare/Stanislavski, etc, etc and then doing films like Naadaniyaan and Archie’s”

“Nepo kids se jyada harm to yeh parents aur well wishers kar dete hn inke liye bakloli kar kar ke inke baare me. Why are Bollywood parents so weird?”

“Stop lying, Boney Kapoor.”

Khushi’s Struggles With Online Hate

Khushi Kapoor made her debut in The Archies, directed by Zoya Akhtar. Despite the buzz, the film didn’t do well and her performance was called “underwhelming.” She later starred in Loveyapa with Junaid Khan, which got mixed reviews. Her OTT show Nadaaniyan, with Ibrahim Ali Khan, brought her the most trolling. Viewers made fun of her acting and dialogue delivery online.

In a Filmfare interview, she said, “I haven’t had the opportunity to do a serious role yet. I find it more creatively satisfying to play a flawed, dramatic character.” She also mentioned that she wants to explore darker and more meaningful roles in the future.

Despite all the trolling, Khushi seems ready to move forward. As per a Hindustan Times report, Boney Kapoor is planning a sequel to Mom, Sridevi’s last film. Khushi is expected to play the role of Keerti in it.
