Diwali 2025: On October 20, 2025, CM Bhagwant Mann wished all of Punjab a Happy Diwali and a peaceful, pollution-free celebration of the festival. As a message to the citizens of the state held onto his suggestion of enjoying the holiday as eco-friendly as possible.
Only Certified Green Firecrackers
As an effort to reduce smog pollution, the provincial government granted permission for the sale and use of certified green firecrackers only during specific times, on the night of Diwali. As a requirement to use a certified green firecracker, it could only be purchased from properly licensed traders. Firecracker use was only provided for the hours of 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM on October 20, 2025. Community firecracker events were encouraged to reduce air pollution and noise pollution.
Advocacy for Pollution-Free Celebrations by Cabinet Ministers
Cabinet Ministers from Punjab teamed up with CM Mann to endorse a pollution-free Diwali. They asked for citizen consideration while celebrating, urging that everyone’s responsibility is environment-related. They emphasized in unison to create community awareness about the environment.
Diwali 2025 Government Initiatives for Safe and Clean Festival
Government initiatives from Punjab have been established to promote safe and clean Diwali. Among them, the Punjab government distributed face masks and eye protection glasses, particularly for the Safai Mitras. The government also tries to promote locally manufactured products to limit single-use plastics, while government officials have been ordered to maintain cleanliness throughout Diwali in markets without any garbage being dumped.

CM Mann and his cabinet ministers advocated celebrating with green firecrackers, community celebrataions, leanliness, and a campaign to go green for a more sustainable celebration.
