A major breakthrough has been reported in a cyber harassment case linked to the family of actor Akshay Kumar. The Maharashtra Cyber Department has arrested a man accused of making inappropriate and coercive demands for nude images from the actor’s minor daughter during an online gaming session. The incident has once again raised serious concerns over child safety in digital gaming spaces.
According to officials, the 13-year-old was targeted while playing an online multiplayer game, where she initially received normal in-game messages before the conversation turned disturbing. The accused allegedly attempted to build trust before asking for explicit images. Maharashtra Cyber Department Additional Director General Yashasvi Yadav confirmed the arrest, as per a MidDay report.
Online Gaming Turns Into Cyber Harassment Case
The case highlights how anonymous interactions in online gaming platforms can sometimes be misused. Investigators revealed that the accused engaged in gradual conversation-building before making the inappropriate request, a pattern often seen in cyber grooming cases.
Akshay Kumar had earlier spoken about the incident in October 2025, sharing how his daughter handled the situation responsibly by immediately informing her mother after receiving the message. His statement brought attention to the growing risks children face while interacting with unknown users online.
Akshay Kumar Had Earlier Warned About Cyber Risks
Speaking about the incident earlier, Akshay Kumar had described how the interaction unfolded during a video game session. He explained how normal conversation quickly turned inappropriate, stressing the importance of parental awareness in digital spaces.
DON'T MISS
He had said, “I would like to share a small incident with you, which happened at my home a few months ago. My daughter was playing a video game. There are some video games that you can play with someone, but you are playing with an unknown stranger. When you are playing, you get a message saying, ‘Thank you, that was great’ or ‘You are doing so good’, very courteous messages. Suddenly, the person said, ‘Where are you from?’ She wrote, ‘Mumbai’. And then everything was normal again. The person told her, ‘Well played. You did very well’. Very courteous, it felt respectful”.
He further added, “Then a message came, ‘Are you male or female?’ She replied, ‘Female’. It went on. And then, he sent a message, ‘Can you send me a nude picture of yours? My daughter, she switched off the whole thing. She went and told my wife. It was great that she went and spoke to my wife about it. This is how things begin. This is also a part of cybercrime. People and children get carried away…”
The Maharashtra Cyber Department is continuing its investigation to trace the digital footprint of the accused and identify any possible wider network involved in similar cases.
