Mercedes Benz G 400d: In the Indian market, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the revamped G-Class lineup. The well-liked G 350d was introduced in 2019, and the new G 400d takes its place. The starting price for the 2023 Mercedes G 400d is Rs 2.55 crore (ex-showroom), which is Rs 83 lakh higher than the G 350d that it replaces. G400d reservations have a starting price of Rs. 1.5 lakh. Mercedes maintains its focus on India’s top-end luxury vehicle market with the new G-Class.

Know about the specifications and performance

The 3.0-liter, OM656 in-line six-cylinder diesel engine in the G 400d has 330 horsepower as opposed to the G 350d’s 286 horsepower. Instead of the 600Nm of its predecessor, it produces 700Nm of torque at 1,200-3,200 rpm. The G 400d accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in 6.4 seconds, which is one second faster than the previous model. Power is distributed to all four wheels using a 9-speed automated gearbox. The traditional ladder-frame construction that supports the G 400d is still present, and it receives a unique G-Mode with an off-road driving setup. It has a 241mm ground clearance and can wade through water up to 700 metres deep.

Know about the variants and features

Two versions of the G 400d have been released in India, both with ex-showroom starting pricing of Rs 2.55 crore. In addition to the AMG Line, Mercedes-Benz has a brand-new G 400d Adventure Edition that was created especially for India. It has four options for exterior paint colours, all of which are exclusive options from the brand’s G Manufaktur line. These colours include South Seas blue metallic, Travertine beige metallic, Vintage blue metallic, and Desert Sand non-metallic. Customers may also choose from 25 paint colour options on the G 400d line-up in addition to these.

Mercedes Benz G 400d: delivery timeline and rivals

The G 400d is anticipated to start shipping in the fourth quarter of this year. Bookings are now available, although priority is given to current Mercedes-Benz customers. In the Indian market, the G 400d will continue to compete against the well-liked Land Rover Defender and the Toyota Land Cruiser 300.
