Vande Bharat: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has approved the launch of a new Vande Bharat Sleeper train service between Mumbai and Bengaluru. The new train would be maintained and operated by South Western Railway (SWR) zone.
The Vande Bharat sleeper train would help in improving passenger comfort, long-distance overnight travel and overall journey experience.
Vande Bharat Train Route
The new orange and grey coloured train is developed by Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) using Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory (ICF) technology. It would run between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station in Bengaluru.

The Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper train would be the country’s second such sleeper train in India. Launched in January 2026, the first sleeper Vande Bharat train started between Howrah and Kamakhya, reducing the travel time by up to 6 hours.
On April 5 this year, Ashwini Vaishnaw replied to PC Mohan, MP from Bangalore Central that he has the ministry’s approval for a new Vande Bharat Sleeper service between KSR Bengaluru railway station and CSMT.
Earlier this year, the Union Railway Minister remarked that Vande Bharat Sleeper train production has been ramped up. Vaishnaw had remarked that 12 such trains would be introduced by the year end.
