AUS vs NZ: Australian Captain to announce his retirement, details here

AUS vs NZ: Australia and New Zealand are playing a One Day International series these days. Australia has an unbeatable lead of 2 – 0 in this series.  Australia captain Aaron Finch has announced that he will retire from ODIs after the last match of the series against New Zealand.  The final match of the series between both the teams is to be played at Cairns on Sunday.

Finch will announce his retirement this Sunday

After this match, Finch will say goodbye to One Day cricket.  Finch will continue to be the captain of the T20 team.  He said that “This journey has been a lot of fun. I have created many incredible memories in ODI cricket.”  Finch continued, “I am very fortunate to be part of a wonderful team. I want to thank everyone I have played with and who have supported me. Now is the time to hand over the captaincy to someone else.  Who can guide the team better than me and prepare the team for the upcoming World Cup. I thank all those who have supported me till this point of my life.”

Finch has scored only 169 runs in the last 13 matches.  In both the matches of the series, Finch could not even open his account and he could not even go beyond 30 in the last five matches of One Day International.  The reason for Finch’s retirement is quite clear that he is troubled by his poor form in ODIs.
