8th Pay Commission: The announcement of the 8th Pay Commission has brought relief and excitement to central government employees. This long-awaited decision is expected to benefit nearly 1 crore employees and pensioners. Among them, Group-D employees are eagerly looking forward to a significant salary hike.

Let’s take a look at how the 8th Pay Commission could impact Group-D employees and when the salary revision might take effect.

Salary Hike for Group-D Employees After 8th Pay Commission

The 8th Pay Commission has raised hopes for a considerable salary revision. While the official implementation may take some time, reports suggest that the Fitment Factor will play a crucial role in determining the new salaries.

Currently, the Fitment Factor stands at 2.57 under the 7th Pay Commission. However, reports indicate that the 8th Pay Commission may increase this to 2.86. If this happens, the basic pay for Group-D employees could see a jump from ₹18,000 to ₹51,480. This means an impressive salary hike of ₹33,480—a significant boost for the employees.

When Will the 8th Pay Commission Committee Be Formed?

One of the biggest concerns now is the formation of the 8th Pay Commission committee. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has assured that a committee will be constituted soon. As per reports, this could take anywhere between 2 to 5 months after the announcement.

Once the committee is formed, it will prepare a report and submit it to the Modi government. Based on this report, the final decision regarding salary revision for Group-D employees will be taken. Reports suggest that the 8th Pay Commission could be implemented by January 2026, bringing financial relief to central govt employees across all categories.
