Fight against Corona: Vaccination figure crosses 64 crores, more than 53 lakh doses were administered today

Under the ongoing nationwide vaccination campaign against the corona virus epidemic, the total number of vaccinations crossed 64 crores on Monday. The ministry said in another tweet that till 7 pm on Monday, more than 53 lakh doses of anti-coronavirus vaccine were administered in the country.

The Central Government has so far supplied more than 63.09 crore doses of Corona Virus Vaccine to various States and Union Territories. The Union Health Ministry said on Monday that this supply of vaccines has been done under the free and direct state procurement category. The ministry further informed that 21 lakh 76 thousand 930 doses are in the pipeline, which will arrive soon.

The Health Ministry said that the central government is fully committed to increase the pace of the vaccination campaign against the coronavirus pandemic across the country. It is noteworthy that in the new phase of the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination campaign, the central government will procure 75 percent of the vaccines being made by the vaccine manufacturers in the country and supply them free of cost to the states.

Restrictions on the movement of people along the border with Kerala will remain in force in Karnataka. State’s Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district KV Rajendra on Monday clarified on reports that the central government has done away with the mandatory RT-PCR test report of Corona for crossing the state borders. He said that according to the state government, those coming from Kerala will have to compulsorily show the test report.

Rajendra further said that at present more than 30 thousand new cases of corona are being reported daily in Kerala and the test positivity rate in neighboring Kasaragod district is close to 12 percent. He said that the situation of corona virus epidemic in the state is not under control and due to this the epidemic situation in the district should not be out of control, it has been made mandatory for the people coming from Kerala to show the RT-PCR test report of corona virus for the time being.
