Kajari Teej 2021: What is Kajari Teej ? When does this festival come? Know its importance and method of worship

Kajari Teej is celebrated every year on the third day of krishna paksha in the month of Bhadrapada. This time the festival will be celebrated on 24th August.

What is Kajari Teej? 

Kajari Teej is also known as Kajali Teej, Burhi Teej and Saturi Teej. On this day, married women keep fasts and worship Mother Parvati and Lord Shiva and pray for her husband’s long life. Women also worship Nimdi Mata on this day. This fast is performed by suhagan who prays for happiness and prosperity. The fast is kept without consuming anything. Pregnant women can take fruits and water. Virgin girls can observe this fast to get a good groom. After worshipping the cow, the cow is fed and the fast is observed.

Date of Fasting 

According to the Hindu Panchang, the third date will start from 04.05 pm on August 24 and will end at 04.18 pm next day .This time dhriti yoga will form on Kajari Teej and it is believed that it is good to do all the work done in this yoga. 

Method of worship 

A pond-like shape is made from clay and dung on the side of the wall to perform the puja.The neem branch is planted nearby. Raw milk and water are added to a pond-like shape. The lamp is lit. Lemon, cucumber, banana, apple, sattu, roli, molly, etc. are placed on the plate. 

The puja begins with splashing water and roli to the nimdi mother. With the ring finger, 13 dots are made on the wall behind the neemdi mata with roli, mehndi. Also, 13 dots of kajal are made with the index finger.

Neemdi Mata is offered with moli followed by mehndi, kajal and textiles. Whatever is offered is reflected in the milk and water of the pond. A reflection of ornaments and sarees is also seen.

After performing puja in the evening on Kajri Teej, chradrama is also worshipped.Women offer roli, akshat and molly to the chandrama. Orbit in your place, while worshipping the moon.
