BJP Parliamentary Party meeting begins in Delhi, Home Minister Amit Shah and party President JP Nadda also present

The parliamentary party meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was held today before the Parliament reached the last phase of the winter session. Apart from Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal, Prahlad Singh Patel, Bhupendra Yadav and other leaders were present in the meeting. BJP President JP Nadda also reached to participate in this meeting. This meeting of the Parliamentary Party took place at the Ambedkar International Center in Delhi. Issuing a notice, BJP had directed all Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs to attend it.

Apart from this, BJP has issued a whip for the presence of all the MPs in the Rajya Sabha and has asked them to give their support on the bills introduced by the government in the House. The government may introduce the Election Laws (Amendment) Bill-2021 in the Rajya Sabha today. Earlier this bill was passed in Lok Sabha on Monday.

The issue of absence of members during the proceedings of Parliament may arise in this meeting. More than 20 starred questions were taken in the Lok Sabha on Monday, but 10 BJP MPs whose names were included for the question were not present to ask additional questions. The Prime Minister had warned the MPs to be present in the House even before this.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had told BJP MPs in the Parliamentary Party meeting held on December 7 that they should compulsorily attend the House, irrespective of whether important bills are listed or not, as people have voted to represent themselves. He has been elected and sent to the Parliament. He had directed all the MPs to compulsorily be present in the House during the Parliament session.

The Congress also issued a whip to its Rajya Sabha MPs to be present in the House on Tuesday. It said that all MPs should be present in the House to support the party’s stand on important issues.
