MK Stalin Writes To PM Modi Over Attempts To Impose Of Hindi

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has written a letter to PM Narendra Modi on the report submitted by the Official Parliamentary Committee on Languages. He said that the attempt to impose Hindi is impractical. At the same time it is also divisive for the society. Stalin said that this attempt is going to harm non-Hindi speaking people in many ways.

This would be acceptable not only to Tamil Nadu but also to any state that respects its mother tongue.

MK Stalin said, ‘I appeal that the attempt to impose Hindi in the various ways suggested in the report should not be carried forward. Always keep the glorious flame of India’s unity high. The number of speakers of languages other than Hindi is more than Hindi speaking people in the country. I am sure you will appreciate that every language has its own specialty with its own uniqueness and linguistic culture.’

‘Need to promote all languages’

CM Stalin said that keeping in view the scientific development and technical facilities, all languages should be promoted. Speakers of all languages should be given equal opportunities in terms of education and employment. He said that all languages, including Tamil, should be included in the 8th schedule, such should be the approach of the central government.

In fact, recently a parliamentary committee has recommended that Hindi language be made the medium of instruction in technical and non-technical higher education institutions like IITs.

Udayanidhi Stalin, the youth wing secretary of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and son of Chief Minister MK Stalin, had warned in the matter on Saturday. He had said that if Hindi was imposed in Tamil Nadu, the party would protest against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government in Delhi. He said that if the sentiments of the people were ignored by the PM Modi-led central government, the party would not remain a mute spectator.
