PM Modi unveils the statue of Shri Adi Shankaracharya at Kedarnath in Uttarakhand

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Kedarnath Dham in Uttarakhand today. There he performed Rudrabhishek of Lord Shiva. After this he also unveiled a 12 feet high statue of Adi Guru Shankaracharya. The eighth century Adi Guru statue, which was destroyed in the floods and tragedy in Uttarakhand in 2013, has been renovated.

During this visit, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of works worth more than Rs 400 crore in Kedarnath.

Earlier, PM Modi was welcomed by Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Gurmeet Singh, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and his cabinet colleagues Subodh Uniyal and Ganesh Joshi, besides Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Premchand Agarwal at the airport in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

Ahead of PM’s visit, Kedarnath temple priest Bagish Ling told news agency ANI, “We will all welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM Modi will reach here in the morning. He will perform Maha Rudrabhishek and pray for the welfare of the nation. The temple has been decorated with flowers.”

After laying the foundation stone of the idol of Adi Guru, the Prime Minister took stock of the ongoing reconstruction works in Kedarnath Dham. During this, he also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for some more reconstruction works.

Apart from these, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the Saraswati Retaining Wall Asthapath and Ghat, Mandakini Retaining Wall Asthapath, Tirtha Purohit House and Garuda Chatti Bridge over Mandakini River. During this, he is also scheduled to address a public meeting.
