What Was The “Extremely Severe Alert”?

The alert was part of a nationwide test of India’s new Cell Broadcast Alert System developed for emergency situations like floods, earthquakes, or other disasters.

Issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in coordination with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), the system is designed to send instant warnings directly to mobile phones. Officials confirmed that no action was required from the public during this test.

The system is being tested to ensure faster and more reliable communication during real emergencies in the future.
