Border 2 Advance Booking: There are just two days left for the release of Border 2 and the film is showing strong buzz at the box office. Advance bookings for the Sunny Deol-starrer have picked up quickly. The numbers are already better than several recent big releases.
Trade experts see this as a good sign. The early momentum suggests that the patriotic war drama could open big in theatres. Many believe the film is benefiting from nostalgia and the Republic Day release window.
Border 2 advance booking opened on Monday. Since then, ticket sales have steadily grown across the country.
Border 2 Advance Booking Report
As per trade tracker Sacnilk, Border 2 collected Rs 3.29 crore by Wednesday morning. This figure excludes block seats. Over one lakh tickets have already been sold from 9,179 shows nationwide.
When block seats are added, the Day 1 advance collection goes up to around Rs 6.53 crore. These numbers have impressed trade circles ahead of release.
The film is performing well in major cinema hubs. In the Delhi-NCR belt, Border 2 has earned Rs 1.46 crore from 1,048 shows. Mumbai has also shown steady demand, with Rs 63.11 lakh coming in from 765 shows. This strong response points to solid audience interest, especially for a patriotic film releasing close to Republic Day.
Border 2 is the sequel to JP Dutta’s 1997 cult classic Border. The original film still enjoys massive popularity. The sequel stars Sunny Deol along with Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty and Diljit Dosanjh.
Notably, Border 2 has already crossed the advance booking numbers of Sunny Deol’s last release Jaat. That film had collected Rs 2.37 crore in advance bookings before release.
At a similar stage, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar had collected around Rs 1 crore. Sunny Deol’s blockbuster Gadar 2 stood at roughly Rs 2.2 crore. While Dhurandhar opened at Rs 28 crore and Gadar 2 at Rs 40 crore, Border 2 is currently ahead of both in advance booking trends. This has raised hopes of a strong opening day.

Varun Dhawan Reacts To Trolling Ahead Of Release
While the film is doing well in ticket sales, it has also faced online criticism. After the release of the song “Ghar Kab Aaoge,” some users mocked Varun Dhawan’s expressions. A few even questioned his casting in the patriotic sequel. During an “Ask-Me-Anything” session, some fans asked him to stop doing “pathetic movies” like Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.
Varun addressed the trolling at the ‘Braves of the Soil’ tribute trailer launch in Mumbai. Reacting to the memes, he said, “I believe that you shut down the noise and just let your work do the talking. Yeh sab cheezein chalti rehti hain (All these things keep happening). It doesn’t really matter. Main iske liye kaam nahin karta hoon. Main jis cheez ke liye kaam karta hoon woh iss Friday ko pata chalega (I don’t work for this. What I work for, you will find out this Friday).”
He also spoke about his faith in the film. Varun added, “Mujhe film pe bharosa hai. Ek achi film banana bohot zaroori hai. Obviously, numbers and all these things don’t concern me. But I believe ki humne ek achi film banayi hai (I believe in the film. It’s very important to make a good film. I’m not concerned with numbers. I believe we made a good film). That’s the most important thing.”
For the unversed, Border 2 is set to hit theatres on January 23. Apart from Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan, the film also stars Ahan Shetty, Sonam Bajwa and Anya Singh.
