New Update
Aamir Khan, Rajkumar Hirani

Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani are joining hands again after 11 years. This time, they are working on a biopic about Dadasaheb Phalke, the man who gave birth to Indian cinema.

The duo, who gave us blockbusters like 3 Idiots and PK, will now bring the story of cinema’s beginning in India. After months of rumours, the news is finally confirmed.

The film, which doesn’t have a title yet, is set during India’s freedom struggle. It will follow Phalke’s journey as he builds what later became one of the world’s largest film industries.

Aamir Khan In Raj Kumar Hirani’s Next

Hirani has spent the past four years developing the script with writers Abhijat Joshi, Hindukush Bharadwaj, and Avishkar Bharadwaj. Phalke’s grandson, Chandrashekhar Srikrishna Pusalkar, also shared personal stories that helped shape the script.

Aamir will start preparing for the role after Sitaare Zameen Par releases on June 20. The shoot begins in October 2025.

To recreate the time period, LA-based VFX studios have already designed visuals using AI. The team plans to blend historical visuals with modern filmmaking tech.

Dadasaheb Phalke, often called the Father of Indian Cinema, made India’s first full-length feature film named Raja Harishchandra, in 1913. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s top film honour, is named after him.

Despite his impact, Bollywood hasn’t explored his story yet. Hirani is ready to bring it to the screen with honesty and heart. The film will show how one man, with no big resources, built an entire industry from scratch.

Aamir Khan’s Work Front

Aamir is currently busy with Sitaare Zameen Par. The trailer didn’t fully impress viewers, and the film faced boycott trends later due to Aamir’s Turkish link.. His fans are now waiting for more assets to drop before the film hits screens in June.

He also has a cameo in Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, with Rajinikanth in the lead. The actor has also expressed interest in making a film based on the Mahabharata.
