Sayali Surve: ’24 Ghante Gali, Bina Galti Maar Peet…’ Miss India Earth 2019 Exposes Shocking Love Jihad, Alleges Brutal Abuse By Muslim Husband

Miss India Earth 2019 Sayali Surve opens up on abuse by her husband and conversion to Hinduism. She calls it a shocking ‘Love Jihad’ case.

Miss India Earth 2019 winner Sayali Surve has shared shocking details about her troubled marriage and conversion to Hinduism. Now going by Aadya Surve, the beauty queen lives in Mumbai and is a mother of four. She revealed that years of alleged harassment from her Muslim husband forced her to make this life-changing decision.

Sayali married Aatif Tase in 2017 in a love marriage after meeting him through a mutual friend. Her family had opposed the marriage, but she went ahead regardless (a decision she now regrets).

Speaking to the media, Sayali described the pressure that led to her conversion. “Mujhe conversion karna pada, kyunki nikah karna zaruri tha aur convert hona bhi zaruri tha. Pehle procedure hui, uske baad main wahin rehti gayi. Jab aap 24 ghante ek insaan ke saath rehte ho, toh aapko uski aadatein samajh aati hain aur uske background ka bhi andaaza hota hai.”

She admitted that she had thought about leaving the marriage many times, but was often manipulated. For the sake of her children, she initially gave her husband several chances. However, the abuse became impossible to tolerate in the end.

She added, “Jab aapko 24 ghante gaaliyon ke alawa kuch sunne ko nahi milta, aur bina kisi galti ke maar-peet hoti hai, toh jo cheezein aapke liye pehle normal nahi hoti, woh dheere-dheere normalise ho jaati hain.” Concerned about her children, Sayali decided to take action before they could witness more trauma.

Sayali did not hold back in describing her experience. She said, “Definitely love jihad ka mamla hai. Kai log mana karte hain aur bolte hain ki jab maine khud yeh kiya tha, toh aaj kya bolna. Jab maine yeh decision liya tha, tab itni samajh nahi thi. Main bharose mein, unhe ek achha insaan samajh kar gayi thi. Yeh saari cheezein iss dharm mein zaroor hoti hain.”

She clarified that her criticism is personal and not intended to target any religion as a whole. Born Hindu, she tried for years to follow her beliefs while respecting her husband’s faith. Over time, she said she was taught practices from Islam, including how to offer namaz.

To safeguard herself and her children, Sayali has also changed her children’s names to reflect their Hindu identity. She has filed several FIRs and plans to record her statement soon. For security reasons, she has not travelled to Mumbai, but police officials are assisting her in Pune.

Sayali got emotional and urged other women facing similar situations to come forward. She said she has proof of the abuse but wants to maintain her dignity while seeking justice.
