Son Of Sardaar 2 Vs Dhadak 2 Box Office Collection Day 4: Epic Monday Fail For Ajay Devgn And Karan Johar’s Film, Saiyaara Wins The Weekday War

Son Of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2 saw a major drop in collections on Day 4. Meanwhile, Saiyaara continues to perform well despite being in its third week.

The box office battle between Son Of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2 has taken a disappointing turn. Despite having big names like Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, both films failed to hold steady on their first Monday. Meanwhile, Ahaan Panday’s Saiyaara continues to dominate the ticket counters, even in its third week.

Ajay Devgn’s comedy drama Son Of Sardaar 2, which released on August 1, opened slightly stronger than Dhadak 2. But its Monday performance showed a steep drop. As per early estimates by Sacnilk, the film earned only Rs 2.5 crore on Day 4, bringing its total domestic net collection to Rs 27.25 crore.

The film registered a modest 11.81% overall Hindi occupancy on Monday. The morning shows struggled with a 6.21% share, while the evening and night shows fared better, reaching 13.23% and 16.64%, respectively. Made on an estimated budget of Rs 80–90 crore, Son Of Sardaar 2 is now under pressure to recover costs amid strong competition.

Though the film is currently ahead of Dhadak 2, it couldn’t outperform Saiyaara, which matched Son Of Sardaar 2’s Monday earnings of Rs 2.5 crore. What’s more surprising is that Saiyaara is now in its 18th day and has already crossed Rs 300 crore at the box office.

Karan Johar’s Dhadak 2, a spiritual sequel to the 2018 hit Dhadak, is not living up to expectations. After a weak start, the film showed minor growth over the weekend but collapsed on Monday. The romantic drama earned just Rs 1.4 crore on Day 4, recording a 66% drop from Sunday. This brings its total earnings to Rs 12.8 crore.

The film’s low occupancy (only 14.26% in the Hindi belt) reflects the lack of audience interest. Even in metro cities like Mumbai and Bengaluru, footfalls remained poor, with several shows running half empty.

Despite the buzz around its new cast (Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri) and a fresh storyline that explores a complex love story between two law students from different castes, the film has failed to connect with a wide audience.

Directed by Shazia Iqbal, Dhadak 2 also features Deeksha Joshi, Saurabh Sachdeva, Manjiri Pupala and Vipin Sharma. The film is backed by Dharma Productions in association with several other producers, including Umesh Kumar Bansal and Adar Poonawalla.

Mrunal Thakur Responds To Son Of Sardaar 2 Review

With mixed reactions pouring in, Son Of Sardaar 2’s lead actress Mrunal Thakur urged viewers to judge the film for themselves. When a fan on X (formerly Twitter) expressed doubt over watching the film after reading negative reviews, Mrunal replied, “Most of the reviews are misleading… I would appreciate if you decide how YOU LIKE IT, SIR!”

While Son Of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2 have failed to pass the crucial Monday test, Saiyaara continues to surprise trade watchers with its steady run. It seems difficult for both Ajay Devgn and Karan Johar’s projects to stay in the race.
