After several delays, the trailer of They Call Him OG is finally out. The Telugu gangster drama stars Pawan Kalyan in the lead role, with Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi making his South debut. The film is directed by Sujeeth and produced by DVV Danayya under DVV Entertainment.
The trailer’s launch turned into a story of its own. It was first supposed to be released on Sunday morning, but it got pushed to the pre-release event. Even then, fans watching online were left disappointed as the clip was shown only at the venue without sound or visuals in the live stream. Reports said Sujeeth’s team was still working on the final touches at Annapurna Studios. If not for Pawan Kalyan’s insistence, the event audience might not have seen it either. After these hiccups, the trailer was finally dropped on Monday afternoon.
Pawan Kalyan As Ojas Gambheera In They Cay Him OG Trailer
The trailer gives a look into Mumbai’s underworld, with Pawan Kalyan playing Ojas Gambheera. Once the ruler of Bombay, Ojas suddenly walked away from power. Now, something forces him to return. Why he left, why he came back, and his link to Omi (played by Emraan Hashmi) are the mysteries teased in the clip.
Pawan Kalyan is shown in powerful action scenes, backed by Thaman’s striking background score. Emraan Hashmi comes across as a ruthless gangster, marking his first Telugu role with a strong impact. Prakash Raj also appears as Satya Dada, setting the stage for a violent gang war in Mumbai.
The film sets up a tense clash between Ojas and Omi. Action, revenge, and betrayal seem to drive the story. Talking about the project, Emraan Hashmi said, “When I was approached for this film, I was overjoyed. This is my first Telugu movie, and what could be better than sharing screen space with superstar Pawan Kalyan?”
Advance Booking Of Pawan Kalyan Starrer Indicates Strong Opening
The film’s hype is already showing in advance sales. On the first day itself, bookings crossed Rs 35 crore worldwide. India alone brought in over Rs 10.33 crore from more than 1,100 shows. Special shows in Andhra Pradesh sold out quickly, while in North America, the film made more than USD 1.6 million before release.
Along with Pawan Kalyan and Emraan Hashmi, the film features Priyanka Mohan, Arjun Das, Shriya Reddy, and Prakash Raj. They Call Him OG is set to release on September 25 across South India, North India and Nepal.
