As per reports, long-awaited demand of the government employees and pensioners for pay reform is to be fulfilled soon by 8th Pay Commission. It will benefit crores of government employees and pensioners in India.
What will be the new pay for Pensioners Getting ₹50000?
As per expected fitment factor of 2.86 in 8th Pay Commission, the retired employee with pension of ₹50000 is expected to get the new pension around ₹143000. It shows huge increment of ₹93000.
What Is New Expected Minimum Salary?
Under 7th Pay Commission, the current minimum salary of government employees is ₹ 18,000 per month. The proposed minimum salary for government employees is ₹ 26,000 per month. If the proposed limit is approved, it will directly benefit to the government employees who struggle to meet their day to day needs. This will also help to upgrade their lifestyle. Checking the pay changes in previous commissions the salaries are expected to increase by minimum 30%.
Merger of Dearness Allowance with Basic Pay
There is ongoing discussion, whether dearness allowance should be merged or not into basic pay. Current DA is over 50%, and employee organizations are demanding that it should be merged into basic pay. If it happens, the salary will increase automatically, and the calculation of pension will be on the new scales. Decision regarding this depends on the government which is unclear so far. Furthermore, the government is preparing a special proposal to bring NPS and OPS to some level of stable similarity.
Burden of 8th Pay Commission on Government
Implementation of new commission will increase the burden heavily on government. Due to this, government expenditure may be increased by around ₹1.5 lakh crore per year. This may be the reason why the government is delaying the commission. Government is planning to implement it in a systematic manner.
