AirAsia fined Rs 20 lakh as DGCA finds breach of pilot training norms

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has fined the airline company Air Asia. DGCA has imposed a fine of Rs 20 lakh on Air Asia. DGCA has imposed this penalty on Air Asia for not following the pilot training rules properly. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation had also tested the training of air line pilots between November 23 and November 25, 2022. After which this fine has been imposed on the company. Apart from this, the DGCA has also fined the examiners of the airline for violating the payal training rules.

The head of pilot training was suspended for three months

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has also imposed a fine of Rs three lakh each on eight examiners of AirAsia for violations of pilot training rules that came to light during the inspection. The DGCA issued a release saying that the civil aviation regulator has also suspended the head of pilot training of Tata Group-owned airline Air Asia for three months. During the test, it was found that certain mandatory training exercises were not followed during pilot proficiency and instrument rating checks.

Show cause notice issued

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has also issued a show cause notice to AirAsia in this entire matter. Issuing a show cause notice, DGCA has asked AirAsia why action should not be taken against it for not following the rules properly during pilot training. Following Air Asia’s reply, DGCA has initiated action on the airline company. DGCA had conducted the test between November 23 to November 25, 2022.
