Centre accepts earning Rs 33 per litre from petrol, Rs 32 from diesel

The government remained silent on this question in the Lok Sabha. On the question of bringing petroleum products under the ambit of Goods and Services Tax (GST), Union Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur said, “As far as bringing petroleum products under the purview of GST is concerned, this subject was opened at the time of introduction of GST. Was placed. It was said that states and the Center can decide jointly in the GST Council when to bring it under its ambit. ”

Union Minister of State for Finance Anurag Singh Thakur said that the high fuel prices within the country as compared to other countries depend on many reasons. He informed the Lok Sabha that in view of the current fiscal situation, resources have to be mobilized for spending on infrastructure and other development works. At the same time, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that there is no plan to bring petroleum products crude oil, petrol-diesel, aircraft fuel and natural gas under the purview of GST.
