One of the most auspicious Hindu festivals, Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra, Dasara, or Dashain, is observed after Navaratri every year in India and Nepal. The festival is observed on October 5 this year.

The burning of the effigies of Ravana, Meghananda, and Kumbhakarna, Dussehra puja, the Ram Leela, and Dussehra meals are among the festivities’ highlights. Ravana is, nonetheless, worshipped in a few locations throughout India. On the day of Dussehra, people worship Ravana for a variety of reasons.

There are seven temples dedicated to Ravana located all over the nation, including one in Kanpur where he is revered as a great devotee of Lord Shiva. The other temples include the Kakinada Ravana Temple in Andhra Pradesh, the Ravangram Ravana Temple in Vidisha, the Mandsaur Ravan Temple in Madhya Pradesh, the Mandore Ravan Temple in Jodhpur, and the Baijanath Temple in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.
