Why Holi Colours & Grease Could Be Dangerous?
Today’s holi colours are not just pigment since modern synthetic holi colours could contain lead, mica and even petroleum-based oils that bind to skin’s natural oils to create a greasy film. Prolonged exposure to them could lead to acne flare-ups, clogged pores or even allergic reactions in some users.
Holi 2026 Tips
Firstly, you should never rub dry. It’s always a good practice to start with lukewarm water and a generous massage with mustard or coconut oil. To get started, you could soak a cotton ball in oil and gently massage the stained areas (such as neck, arms or face) for 3-5 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.
Secondly, you could use besan (gram flour) that is the OG cleanser of Holi. Mix besan with curd as the blend could help exfoliating without stripping your skin of its natural moisture. To get started, you could use 2 tablespoon besan, 1 tablespoon curd, 1 teaspoon turmeric and lemon juice squeeze. Apply the paste and massage in circles for 5-7 minutes and then rinse.
Always choose neem or sandalwood ubtans and avoid harsh soaps; you could even try out baby soaps like Dove Sensitive.
