IT officials examine electronic equipment in BBC office, look for Shell Company details

Around 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, survey operations by Income Tax Officials commenced at BBC offices in Delhi and Mumbai. Purpose of Survey?

Income Tax Department has revealed that the survey was bring carried out to investigate issues related to international taxation system and transfer pricing of BBC subsidiary companies.

The broadcaster had received notices in the past but was “defiant and non-compliant” and had significantly shifted its income, according to the IT personnel.

The BBC India office was the subject of a survey, not a search, according to IT personnel, who also promised that the phone would be returned. The IT officials are also looking at records pertaining to the company’s business activities and those connected to its Indian arm.

UK starts monitoring the situation

Although there hasn’t been an official remark from a British government spokesperson, they have stated that they will be “closely monitoring” the tax surveys that were performed at the BBC offices in India.
