Nationwide alert! H3N2 influenza outbreak claims nine lives and counting, Delhi health minister warns of COVID and H3N2

H3N2: Considering the heightened risk of the H3N2 influenza outbreak in view of shifting weather conditions, all the hospitals throughout Maharashtra have been warned to remain on alert. The government of Delhi has issued a warning advising citizens to take extra measures and behave in a COVID-appropriate manner, especially youngsters and the elderly.

Nine people have already died nationwide

At least nine people have already died nationwide from the H3N2 influenza virus; the most recent death was a 73-year-old man who passed away in Pune, Maharashtra. When an 82-year-old man passed away in the Hassan district of Karnataka, it was confirmed that the death was the nation’s first instance of H3N2 influenza. 451 cases of H3N2 have been documented in the nation between January 2 and March 5, according to information provided by the Union health ministry.

Need of adhering to operational requirements

In a letter to states and UTs, the Union Health Ministry emphasised the need of adhering to operational requirements for integrated surveillance of respiratory pathogens that manifest as cases of influenza-like disease or severe acute respiratory infections.

Health minister for Delhi warned peoples

On Friday, Saurabh Bharadwaj, the health minister for Delhi, warned the populace to avoid crowded areas because to the country’s increasing Covid-19 and H3N2 influenza outbreaks. In government hospitals, there are few cases. At Lok Nayak Hospital, there are 20 cases of influenza, and there are 8 to 10 cases at other hospitals. In the midst of the Covid-19 outbreak, beds were reserved. Speaking to the media, he stated, “We haven’t released those beds. The government also given directives to all districts for monitoring to monitor the cases of influenza and Covid-19.

The Maharastra government has ordered all of the state’s hospitals to be on notice due to the escalating H3N2 influenza cases. The H3N2 virus is spreading in the state, but there is no reason to be concerned, Maharastra Health Minister Tanaji Sawant said when speaking to the media following a meeting of the Health Department in front of the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister. People must avoid crowded places, refrain from wearing masks, and maintain their social distance. Cases of H3N2 and Covid are once again increasing in the state.

Madhya Pradesh has been identified as the state’s first case of H3N2

A young guy who tested positive for the virus in the state capital Bhopal of Madhya Pradesh has been identified as the state’s first case of H3N2 influenza, an official said on Thursday. The patient, who is between the ages of 20 and 25, tested positive for the H3N2 virus on Wednesday but is now asymptomatic, according to Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, Chief Medical and Health Officer for Bhopal. He complained of a cough and cold, according to health department authorities, and his swab sample was sent for testing in the lab. The patient, a local of Bhopal’s Bairagarh neighbourhood, is reportedly recuperating at home, according to the report.
