New Delhi: According to reports, there may be further conflicts between Indian and Chinese forces in Ladakh as a result of latter’s expansion of its military presence there. The report claimed to be a portion of a recent, top-secret research document by the Ladakh Police that was presented at a meeting of senior police officials recently under the topic “Security Issues Pertaining to Unfenced Land Border.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah both attended the meeting that the Intelligence Bureau (IB) hosted from January 20–22.
According to estimates, there may be further clashes between China and India in Ladakh based on intelligence obtained by local police in border regions and the history of military confrontations between the two countries.
When Indian and Chinese troops battled in Ladakh in 2020, at least 24 soldiers died, but following military and diplomatic negotiations, tensions subsided. In Arunachal Pradesh, a new altercation between the two factions broke out in December, although no one was killed.

India and China last had discussions in December
The revelation comes days after it was discovered that “restrictive or no patrolling” has caused the presence of the Indian military forces to be not affirmed at 26 of the 65 patrolling points (PPs) commencing from the Karakoram pass to Chumur along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh.
Additionally, it was noted that the Chinese People’s Liberation Army had utilised the buffer zones in the de-escalation negotiations by positioning the best cameras atop the highest peaks and keeping a close eye on the movements of our soldiers. The eastern Ladakh border impasse was discussed again between India and China in December, but there was little sign of progress in finding a solution to the outstanding difficulties.
