Republic Day 2023: Newly appointed Agniveers participating; Here are many firsts you need to know

This time the 74th Republic Day celebrations on ‘January 26, 2023’ are going to be very special as many new initiatives will be taken in the parade. That’s why the information related to the upcoming Republic Day of 2023 will be very interesting for every Indian. This year, the ‘Make in India’ scheme is being displayed in the Republic Day parade under the campaign of women power, self-reliance and self-reliant India.

Parade of ‘Self-reliant India’ will be seen

It may be noted that this time during the parade, the audience will get to see many things for the first time, the most important of which will be all the weapon systems of the army which are ‘Made in India’. That is, this time the parade of ‘self-reliant India’ will be seen on the path of duty.

Indian field guns to replace British-era 25-pounder guns

This time, the 21-gun salute will be from indigenous 105 mm Indian field guns, which will replace the British-era 25-pounder guns used in World War II. Though these indigenous guns were used during last year’s Independence Day, this is the first time they will be used on Republic Day.

Newly appointed Agniveer will be part of the parade for the first time

This time the newly appointed Agniveer will also be a part of the parade for the first time. These Agniveer had joined the army last year under the Agniveer Yojana to protect the country. In this regard, Indian Navy has shared this information that for the first time in the history, three women and five men Agniveers in the marching squad will also participate in the parade in the path of duty.

Apart from this, many new programs have also been added this time to make the Republic Day celebrations very unique.

These include Military Tattoo and Tribal Dance Fest, Veer Gatha 2.0, 2nd edition of Vande Bharatam Dance Competition, performance by Military and Coast Guard Bands at National War Memorial; All India School Band Competition at the National War Memorial, a drone show and projection mapping during the Beating the Retreat ceremonyis included.

Events so far include Military Tattoo and Tribal Dance Festival, Veer Gatha and Vande Bharatam 2.0, All India School Band Competition at National War Memorial and Beating the Retreat to showcase the country’s cultural diversity and the rise of startup ecosystem and Digital India.

Biggest drone show of and Anamorphic projection is set in pink program

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi will be the chief guest on the Republic Day in New Delhi on January 26. Egypt has also been invited as the ‘guest country’ during India’s G-20 presidency in 2022-23. At the same time, the Egyptian military contingent is also participating in the ceremony. The marching contingent of his country, including the President of Egypt, will also participate in the parade.

A squad of women soldiers deployed in the defense of the country will be seen

A woman soldier, guarding the desert border with Pakistan, will be part of the BSF camel contingent and a woman officer posted at a strategic base will lead a contingent of 144 Navy sailors in a display of ‘nari shakti’.

Navy’s IL-38 will make its last flight for the parade

The Navy’s spy plane IL-38 aircraft, which served the Marine Corps for over four decades, will enter the history books as it flies its last flight for the parade. Maritime reconnaissance aircraft IL-38 has served the Navy for almost 42 years.

Apart from this, the 44 aircraft participating in the fly past of the parade will also include nine Rafale jets, indigenously built Prachanda, a multi-role, light combat helicopter.

The traditional route of the parade till the Red Fort will be resumed

Major General Bhavanish Kumar, Chief of Staff, Delhi Area, has told that the parade will begin at 10.30 am from Vijay Chowk and the contingent will march straight to the Red Fort. During the pandemic, the parade’s traditional route to the Red Fort was closed due to Covid restrictions.
