Republic Day 2025: The nation is gearing up to celebrate Republic Day 2025 on 26th January, marking the 76th anniversary of this proud occasion. The capital city, Delhi, is at the heart of the celebrations, hosting grand parades and events at Kartavya Path. India’s top leaders, including President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will lead the occasion. Furthermore, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr Prabowo Subianto, will be present as the Chief Guest, making this celebration even more significant. With such eminent personalities expected, security and transport arrangements have been meticulously planned.
To ensure smooth proceedings, the Delhi Police traffic advisory and Delhi Metro advisory have been issued, focusing on safety and convenience for the public.
Delhi Police Traffic Advisory for Republic Day 2025
Preparations for the 76th Republic Day are in full swing, with Delhi transformed into a secure zone. Over 7,000 CCTV cameras have been installed at Kartavya Path, complemented by a six-layered security system. Around 3,000 personnel will oversee the arrangements.
Starting at 9 PM on January 25, strict traffic restrictions will be enforced. Entry of commercial vehicles, HGVs, and LGVs into Delhi’s border areas will be restricted, except for essential services.

The Delhi Police traffic advisory highlights key road closures:
Rafi Marg, Janpath, and Mansingh Road will be shut from 10 PM on January 25 until the parade concludes.
Kartavya Path, from Vijay Chowk to India Gate, will remain off-limits to vehicles from 5 PM on January 25 until the parade ends.
Commuters are advised to avoid the parade route between 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM on January 26.
Travelers should plan their journeys in advance, considering these restrictions.
Delhi Metro Schedule for Republic Day
To accommodate the large crowd heading to Kartavya Path, the Delhi Metro advisory has announced revised timings for metro services. On January 26, metro operations will begin at 3:00 AM on all lines, ensuring early access for those attending the celebrations.

Between 3:00 AM and 6:00 AM, trains will run every 30 minutes. After 6:00 AM, the usual metro schedule will resume. This adjustment aims to provide hassle-free travel for commuters and spectators.
Witness the Pride of Republic Day
The Republic Day parade will kick off at 10:30 AM, lasting around 90 minutes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin the celebrations by paying tribute to fallen heroes at the National War Memorial, followed by his arrival at Kartavya Path to witness the grand parade alongside other dignitaries.
President Droupadi Murmu and the Indonesian President will arrive in a traditional horse-drawn buggy, a custom revived in 2024 after 40 years. They will be escorted by the President’s Bodyguard, the oldest regiment of the Indian Army.
The ceremony will feature the hoisting of the National Flag, the National Anthem, and a 21-gun salute using the indigenous 105-mm Light Field Guns, symbolizing India's progress and pride.
