Sheen Mubarak! Snowball fight, sibling revelry; Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka share fun moments as Yatra comes to end in Srinagar; VIDEO

Sheen Mubarak! Congress leaders and siblings Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had some fun moments with a snowball fight in Srinagar during the closing ceremony of the Bharat Jodo Yatra on Monday. Rahul Gandhi shared a video on social media where he is hiding snowballs behind his back as he sneaks up on his sister. He attacks Priyanka with the snow on her head. Priyanka chases him and smears snow on his head. Congress workers are seen laughing to see sibling revelry in the video.

While most others were seen covered up amid heavy snowfall, Rahul Gandhi sported his signature white T-shirt and a sleeveless jacket. He captioned the video, “Sheen Mubarak! A beautiful last morning at the #BharatJodoYatra campsite, in Srinagar.” Priyanka had joined the Congress MP in Kashmir on Saturday during the last leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Closing ceremony of Yatra

The 4,080 km Bharat Jodo Yatra on Monday closed at the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) headquarters in Srinagar. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were present at the hoisting of the national flag. This was followed by a rally led by Rahul Gandhi at the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium. Several opposition leaders – including from the DMK, National Conference, PDP, CPI, RSP, and IUML – joined the Congress leaders to mark the culmination of the Yatra.

The yatra began on September 7 from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu and covered 12 states and union territories – Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and concluded in Jammu and Kashmir.

Heavy snowfall closes highway

Earlier, the Srinagar-Jammu national highway was closed after heavy snowfall. Srinagar airport director Kuldeep Singh Rishi took to Twitter to inform that all flights to Srinagar were delayed because of low visibility and continuous snowfall. Vistara Airlines had cancelled both its flights from Delhi to Srinagar for the day. Moderate to heavy snowfall was recorded in the plains of Kashmir, while the higher reaches experienced heavy to very heavy snowfall.
