Fresh outrage has erupted over alleged corruption in Indian Railways after a video of a Ticket Examiner (TTE) in heated argument with passengers over seat allocation and alleged bribe went viral on social media. The video, apparently shot inside a packed train coach, has a passenger alleging that the TTE is asking for extra money without giving any receipt.

The situation quickly escalated when the passenger started recording the exchange on a mobile phone. The TTE allegedly told the passenger that filming a railway official on duty could lead to legal action and even said it carried a “seven-year jail sentence”. But the passenger disputed the claim on camera, escalating the war of words.

As per the viral video, the scuffle broke out when the passengers confronted the TTE with the issue of seat allotments and alleged unofficial payments for vacant berths. The argument is audible with several passengers in the compartment reacting. The passenger recording the video repeatedly accuses the official of being “ghooskhor i” (taking bribes).

The video has since gone viral on platforms such as YouTube and X (formerly Twitter), fuelling public anger over suspected corruption during peak travel periods when confirmed train seats are hard to come by.

The incident has drawn a strong reaction from social media users, with many demanding stern action against the railway staff involved in illegal seat dealings. Past incidents like this have also surfaced. Earlier, a TTE was suspended in Varanasi for allegedly taking a bribe of ₹100 for adjusting berths, after a passenger uploaded a video clip of the act.

NCRB Report: The 2024 Accidental Deaths and Suicides in India report by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has disclosed that a total of 1,70,746 people died by suicide in 2024, which suggest a marginal drop from 1,71,418 in 2023. Meanwhile, the country’s suicide rate dropped down to 12.2 from 12.3 that is still ahead of the 2019 rate of 10.4.

The NCRB report revealed that the count of accidental deaths increased at a speedy pace in 2024, resulting in a decrease in the ratio of suicides to accidental deaths. The country recorded 4,67,857 accidental deaths in the year 2024 that saw an increase of 5.3 percent from 4,44,104 in 2023. The count of suicides between 2019 and 2024 increased by 22.7 percent while the number of accidental deaths saw an increase by 11.1 percent.

Kerala And Telangana Lead

Kerala had the highest rate of suicides at 30.2 followed by Telangana at 28.6 and Chhattisgarh at 26.0 and Tamil Nadu at 25.9. Uttar Pradesh at 3.8 and Bihar at 1.0 were among the lowest.

She informed the police that her 14-year-old daughter had gone to a nearby grocery shop where the shopkeeper allegedly attempted to molest her. Based on this information, a case has been registered under relevant legal sections at Kavi Nagar Police Station.”

The police statement confirmed that legal action has been initiated and further investigation into the matter is underway.

Uttar Pradesh News: The long-awaited preparations for Census 2027 have officially begun in Uttar Pradesh on May 7, 20026. This marks a major administrative exercise that will impact policy planning, welfare distribution, urban development and public resource allocation across the state of Uttar Pradesh.

From May 7 to 21, the state’s residents can complete self-enumeration online through a dedicated portal, eliminating the need to wait entirely for physical visits by census officials.

The self-enumeration process began on May 7, 2026, and will continue until May 21, 2026. This marks the opening phase of the Census 2027 data collection drive in the state. Officials have clarified that the digital self-enumeration facility is designed to simplify the census process, improve accuracy and encourage greater public participation.

Timelines Announced For Census 2027 In Uttar Pradesh

The Census operations in Uttar Pradesh will be conducted in multiple phases. Authorities have confirmed that the first round of data collection will begin with self-enumeration exercises from May 7 to May 21, 2026

Following this, the house-listing phase will commence from May 22, 2026. During this stage, officials will physically verify household structures and related details.

The final population enumeration process is scheduled to take place between February 9 and February 28, 2027. However, district-wise schedules are expected to be released separately at a later stage.

Once a family successfully completes the online submission process, the portal generates a unique 11-digit Self-Enumeration (SE) ID. This number becomes extremely important because it must later be shown to the census enumerator during verification visits. Authorities have urged citizens to keep this number safe after submission, as it acts as proof that the household has already completed online registration.

Are Separate Mobile Numbers Allowed for Family Members?

According to the official procedure, one household can use only one mobile number for registration. The OTP verification and account creation process are linked to a single contact number, which becomes the primary identifier for that household’s self-enumeration record.

This means separate family members living under the same household structure should not create multiple registrations using different mobile numbers. Instead, one family representative should complete the process for everyone residing in that home. The rule has been introduced to avoid duplication of records and ensure data consistency during the census verification process.

Mane, who is also known as cricketer Smriti Mandhana’s close friend, accused the composer of financial cheating and making casteist remarks. What Are The Allegations Against Palash Muchhal?

Vignyan Mane alleged that Palash Muchhal convinced him to invest lakhs into his film Nazariya with promises of strong returns. According to Mane, the money was never returned even after repeated follow-ups.

Mane said, “I am a law-abiding citizen who firmly believes in the Constitution of India and the rule of law. In 2024, Palash Muchhal took Rs 25 lakh from me under the pretext of investing in a film project, assuring me of good returns. However, after the film was completed, despite repeated follow-ups, he continued to delay repayment.”

Based on the complaint, Sangli City Police registered a cheating case along with charges under the SC/ST Atrocities Act.

Mane further alleged that Palash Muchhal made “deeply offensive and casteist remarks about a particular community,” details of which were reportedly mentioned in the FIR.

Palash Muchhal’s Lawyer Denies Claims

Responding to the allegations, Palash Muchhal’s advocate Shreyansh Mithare questioned the timing of the complaint. He pointed out that earlier disputes between the two were reportedly related only to financial matters.

The controversy comes months after Palash Muchhal’s highly publicised breakup with cricketer Smriti Mandhana. The former couple had planned to marry on November 23, 2025, in Sangli before officially calling off the wedding in December that year.

Viral reports and social media claims alleged that Smriti Mandhana had caught Palash cheating with another woman during the wedding celebrations. Some reports also claimed members of the Indian women’s cricket team confronted him physically. However, Palash Muchhal denied all such allegations and called them “baseless and factually incorrect.”
