AR Rahman U-Turn ! Tries to Come Clean on Communal Remark, Says ‘Never Wished to Cause Pain’

Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman sparked a heated debate after remarks in a recent interview suggested that a shift in the Hindi film industry might have affected his opportunities, possibly due to what he described as “a communal thing” in the decision-making process.

The comment quickly drew widespread attention and criticism across social media and entertainment circles. Several industry figures responded strongly, saying his interpretation of the industry was wrong or harmful.

Rahman Issues Clarification

Facing mounting reactions, Rahman took to social media with a video message to clarify his position. He said his original words were misunderstood and insisted that he never wished to cause pain or offend anyone with his remarks.

In the statement, the composer stressed that his intentions were about artistic experience and industry changes, not meant as an accusation against any group or community. He said people sometimes read more into comments than intended.

Rahman’s Message of Unity

Rahman also took the opportunity to reflect on his long career and deep connection to India. He described the country as his inspiration, teacher and home, and emphasised that his work aims to celebrate culture and diversity through music.

He pointed to several multicultural musical collaborations and projects, underlining his commitment to inclusivity and cross-cultural artistic expression. He also reiterated that his purpose has always been to uplift, honour and serve through music.

Industry Response Continues

While Rahman’s clarification has been viewed by supporters as sincere, some critics remain unconvinced. Prominent voices in Bollywood have publicly disagreed with his original comment, saying there is no widespread communal bias in the industry.

Others have defended Rahman’s legacy, highlighting his contributions to Indian music and cultural unity.

Moving Forward

As the conversation unfolds, many fans and commentators are focusing on the broader issue of diversity and representation in entertainment. Rahman’s clarification appears aimed at steering the discussion back to respect, creativity and shared cultural expression.

Bangladesh News: Disgusting! No Value For Minorities, Another Hindu Man Killed, Is Yunus Govt Playing With Fire ?

Bangladesh- News

Bangladesh News: A 55-year-old Hindu shop owner, identified as Liton Chandra Ghosh, was beaten to death in the Gazipur district of Bangladesh during a violent altercation. The incident occurred when a disagreement at his candy and snack shop over a minor issue escalated into a physical confrontation. Police say Ghosh stepped in to protect a teenage employee when the situation turned deadly.

Local authorities confirmed that Ghosh was struck in the head with a shovel during the assault and died at the scene. Three suspects, including a young man and his parents, were detained by police shortly after the incident and are now facing legal proceedings.

Rising Concerns Over Minority Violence

This killing is the latest in what some observers describe as a series of attacks on members of the Hindu minority in Bangladesh. Human rights observers report multiple incidents of violence affecting Hindu individuals in recent weeks, including fatal attacks in different parts of the country.

Some community members and rights groups say the string of violent cases is feeding fear among minority populations. They argue that such incidents contribute to a climate of insecurity, particularly as Bangladesh approaches a national election scheduled for February 2026.

Government and Community Reactions

Officials have said that the Gazipur case is being treated as a criminal matter and not a broader communal conflict. Police have urged calm while investigations continue and have assured the public that due process will be followed.

Meanwhile, activists and local community leaders are calling for swift justice and stronger protections for minorities. Some voices have urged the government to take visible measures to reassure vulnerable populations and prevent further violence.

International Attention on Minority Issues

Bangladesh News: The European Union’s election observation mission has also announced it will pay special attention to minority issues in Bangladesh during the upcoming elections, citing concerns over community safety.

Border 2 Vs Dhurandhar: Will This Sequel Shake Ranveer Singh Starrer’s Box Office Throne? Sunny Deol’s Film Breaks Its FIRST Record Days Before Release

Border 2 Vs Dhurandhar - Sunny Deol and Ranveer Singh

Sunny Deol starrer Border 2 is already grabbing attention even before its theatrical release. The war drama has taken over the internet with its trailer, putting it in direct comparison with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar. Since its release, Dhurandhar has ruled the box office. It outperformed almost every big film and continues to run strong even today. The spy actioner showed no signs of slowing down and kept breaking records week after week.

Now, with Border 2 breaking its first big record days before release, many are wondering whether this sequel will finally challenge Dhurandhar’s long-standing box office throne.

Border 2 Breaks FIRST Record Of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar

The official trailer of Border 2 was released on Thursday evening, January 15, and the response was massive. Within 24 hours, the trailer crossed 20 million views on YouTube. This easily beat the first-day trailer views of Dhurandhar, which had recorded around 17 million views.

The buzz only grew stronger after that. In just two days, the Border 2 trailer crossed 44.1 million views and started trending at number one on YouTube.

Because of this early hype, many in the trade believe Border 2 could challenge the box office records set by Dhurandhar. However, whether it can maintain this momentum after release remains to be seen.

About The Trailer Of Sunny Deol Starrer Sequel

Released on January 15, 2026, to mark Indian Army Day, the 3-minute and 35-second trailer promises a much larger scale than the 1997 original. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film expands the 1971 war story across land, air, and sea. Sunny Deol returns as Lt Col Fateh Singh Kaler and leads a new generation of soldiers.

The trailer introduces Varun Dhawan as an Indian Army officer, Diljit Dosanjh as an Air Force fighter pilot, and Ahan Shetty heading naval operations. Together, they show a coordinated mission by the Indian Armed Forces.

Visually, the trailer is packed with action and strong patriotic emotion. It opens with Sunny Deol staring down a Pakistani tank, setting an intense tone. The visuals move from ground combat and tank battles to aerial dogfights and large-scale naval attacks. The scale is clearly much bigger than the original Border.

The emotional side is also given space. Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana and Anya Singh appear as family members waiting back home, showing the personal sacrifices of soldiers.

Several dialogues have already gone viral. Sunny Deol’s line – “Tumhare Pakistan mein itne log nahi jitne humare yahan Eid par bakre kaate jaate hain” has sparked strong reactions online. Another moment shows soldiers shouting “Lahore tak” when asked where their war cries should reach. Varun Dhawan also leaves an impact with his line about having the “temperament of Parshuram” while worshipping Lord Ram.

The trailer also uses modern versions of iconic songs like “Sandese Aate Hai” and “Hindustan Meri Jaan”, adding nostalgia. While many viewers praised Sunny Deol’s screen presence and Diljit Dosanjh’s performance, some critics pointed out the heavy use of VFX and the loud tone.

Still, the response has been overwhelming. With records already falling, all eyes are now on whether Border 2 can truly shake Dhurandhar’s box office reign after its release.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has imposed a ₹22 crore fine on IndiGo following widespread flight disruptions in December 2025. Thousands of passengers were affected by delays and cancellations during the peak holiday season, causing major inconvenience.

Financial Impact Could Exceed ₹1,180 Crore

Industry experts estimate that the airline could face a total financial impact of over ₹1,180 crore. This includes compensation to passengers, operational losses, and potential legal claims. The December chaos has been described as one of the largest service breakdowns in recent years for India’s largest airline.

IndiGo Takes Corrective Measures

IndiGo has acknowledged the issues and said it is taking steps to prevent incidents in the future. Measures include revising flight schedules, increasing staff deployment, and improving operational planning. The airline stressed its commitment to minimising disruption for passengers.

Passengers Advised to Check Flights

Travellers affected during December are encouraged to check their flight status and claim compensation. The DGCA’s strict action serves as a warning to all airlines to maintain operational discipline during peak travel periods.

Industry Implications

The December disruption highlights challenges faced by airlines during high-demand periods. Analysts note that IndiGo may take months to recover both financially and in terms of public reputation. The situation also underscores the importance of contingency planning for large-scale operations.

Happy Patel Vs Rahu Ketu Box Office Collection Day 2: Vir Das Or Pukit Samrat? Check Whose Film Fared Better After Small Saturday Growth Amid Dhurandhar’s Dominance

Happy Patel Vs Rahu Ketu Box Office Collection Day 2: Two new Hindi comedies (Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos and Rahu Ketu) were released in theatres on January 16 with hopes of drawing audiences looking for light entertainment. However, both films had a slow start at the box office and showed only limited growth on their second day. Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar continued its strong run, earning more in its seventh week than either new release managed on Day 2.

The face-off between Vir Das and Pulkit Samrat created some buzz online. Still, the box office numbers suggest that audiences are currently favouring big, established films over smaller comedy releases.

Happy Patel Vs Rahu Ketu Box Office Collection Day 2

As reported by Sacnilk, Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos opened with an India net collection of around Rs 1.25 cr on Day 1. The film saw a small jump on Saturday, earning nearly Rs 1.50 cr on Day 2. With this, its two-day total stands at about Rs 2.75 cr.

Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma’s Rahu Ketu also began its run on a modest note. The fantasy comedy collected close to Rs 1 cr on its opening day. On Day 2, the film showed slightly better growth than Happy Patel, earning an estimated Rs 1.60 cr. Its total after two days is now around Rs 2.60 cr.

The numbers show that both films witnessed only a small Saturday rise. While Rahu Ketu performed marginally better in terms of Day 2 growth, Happy Patel still holds a narrow lead in overall collections so far.

In comparison, holdover release Dhurandhar remains unshaken at the box office. On Day 44, the Ranveer Singh starrer earned an estimated Rs 3 cr India net. This single-day figure is higher than what Happy Patel and Rahu Ketu collected on their second day. Even after several weeks in theatres and the arrival of new releases, the film continues to pull in solid numbers.

About Both The Films

Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos follows the story of a clumsy but well-meaning man, played by Vir Das, who is mistaken for a secret agent. Sent on a dangerous mission in Goa, he must deal with real criminals while discovering his Indian roots. The film stars Mithila Palkar, Mona Singh and Sharib Hashmi, with special appearances by Aamir Khan and Imran Khan. It has a runtime of 1 hour and 59 minutes.

Rahu Ketu is a fantasy comedy about two fictional characters who come alive from a writer’s notebook and try to become heroes. The film stars Varun Sharma and Pulkit Samrat and blends mythology with humour. It has a runtime of 2 hours and 20 minutes and is positioned as a low-budget entertainer.

With modest openings for both comedies, all eyes are now on Sunday’s numbers to see if positive word of mouth can change their box office journey.

Iran Protests: Donald Trump Vs Ayatollah Khamenei Reaches Flashpoint! Is Regime Change on Cards?

Iran- Protests
Google

Ongoing protests across Iran have triggered a sharp escalation in rhetoric between US President Donald Trump and Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. What began as domestic unrest has now turned into a geopolitical confrontation.

The demonstrations, driven largely by economic distress, inflation, and public anger over governance, have spread across several Iranian cities, prompting a heavy security crackdown.

Khamenei Calls Trump a “Criminal”

In a strong public statement, Ayatollah Khamenei accused Donald Trump of criminal behaviour. He also blamed the United States for encouraging unrest inside Iran. According to Khamenei, Washington is exploiting public grievances to destabilise the Islamic Republic.

Iran’s leadership has consistently portrayed the protests as foreign-backed, arguing that US statements in support of demonstrators amount to direct interference in Iran’s internal affairs.

Trump’s Call for Regime Change

Donald Trump has taken a markedly different position. He has supported Iranian protesters and stated that Iran needs regime change, signalling his belief that the current leadership under Khamenei has lost legitimacy.

While Trump has not announced any military or covert action, his language represents a political challenge to Iran’s ruling system. In diplomatic terms, these remarks are interpreted as endorsing the removal of the existing power structure.

What “Regime Change” Means in This Context

The term “regime change” does not imply armed intervention. In this case, it refers to external political pressure combined with internal dissent, encouraging Iranians to demand new leadership.

For Tehran, however, even rhetorical support from the US is treated as a hostile act, reinforcing the government’s justification for strict crackdowns and tighter controls.

Why the Standoff Matters

The clash highlights a dangerous intersection of domestic unrest and international rivalry. Trump’s statements energise protesters but also strengthen hardliners within Iran.

At the same time, the confrontation risks isolating Iran and complicating any future diplomatic engagement.

Dhurandhar Box Office Collection Day 44: Ranveer Singh’s spy thriller Dhurandhar continues to dominate the box office, even as it enters its seventh week. After starting week seven with a low collection, the film bounced back strongly, showing the staying power of a true blockbuster.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar has been on a record-breaking run since its release on December 5. Despite new releases and weekday dips, the film’s story, action and star cast keep audiences returning to theatres.

Dhurandhar Box Office Collection Day 44

According to sacnilk, the film started its seventh week with a net collection of around Rs 1.75 crore on Friday (Day 43), its lowest single-day number so far. However, on Saturday (Day 44), collections nearly doubled to an estimated Rs 3 crore, showing a huge 71% growth.

The film’s total net in India now stands at Rs 821.35 crore, with week seven collections reaching Rs 4.75 crore in just two days. This puts Dhurandhar in 3rd place for the highest week-seven collections in India, behind Stree 2 (Rs 9.35 crore) and Chhaava (Rs 6.53 crore). The milestone is expected to be crossed very soon.

Despite competition from new releases like Happy Patel – Khatarnak Jasoos and Rahu Ketu, Dhurandhar continues to hold strong. On Saturday, both Dhurandhar and The Raja Saab earned an estimated Rs 3 crore each. Dhurandhar was released only in Hindi, unlike The Raja Saab, which was released in multiple languages.

The film also continues to perform overseas, adding roughly Rs 293 crore to its total. With worldwide collections estimated at Rs 1278.8 crore, Dhurandhar has established its position as a global hit.

Donald Trump Adamant on Acquiring Greenland, Imposes Steep Tariff Plan on European Countries – Will They Relent?

Trump's-Greenland-Tariff

Trumps Greenland Tariff: In a dramatic trade pressure, US President Donald Trump has announced a 10% tariff on imports from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Finland, effective February 1. The tariff is set to rise sharply to 25% from June 1.

Trump made it clear that the tariffs are directly linked to negotiations over Greenland, stating bluntly, “It is time for Denmark to give back.”

The tariffs, according to the announcement, will remain in force until the United States reaches a deal to buy Greenland.

Greenland at the Centre of the Dispute

Greenland, an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, has long been of strategic interest to the US due to its location in the Arctic and its natural resources. Trump has repeatedly expressed interest in acquiring the island, framing it as a matter of national and global security.

This latest move marks the most aggressive step yet, using trade penalties to push European allies toward negotiations.

Denmark and Allies Push Back

Trumps Greenland Tariff: Denmark swiftly rejected the premise of the tariff-linked demand. In an official response, Danish authorities stated that Greenland’s future is not up for sale and remains a decision for the people of Greenland and Denmark.

The statement also emphasised that Arctic security is a shared NATO responsibility, particularly amid rising concerns over Russian activity in the region. Danish officials criticised the use of tariffs against allies, calling it “completely wrong” and counterproductive to collective security.

They confirmed that the issue will be taken up directly with the US administration.

NATO Unity Under Strain

The tariff announcement has raised concerns across Europe about the future of US–Europe relations. Applying economic pressure on NATO allies over territorial issues is seen by many analysts as an unprecedented move that could strain alliance cohesion.

Several European economies affected by the tariffs are key US trading partners, raising fears of retaliatory measures if the standoff continues.

Whether European nations will engage in negotiations remains uncertain. For now, the response suggests firm resistance rather than compromise.

India’s Silent Tariff Strike on the US: 30% Duty on Yellow Peas Hits American Farmers

India-US-Tariff-War
Google

India US Tariff War: India has carried out a low-profile yet effective trade move against the United States by imposing a 30% import tariff on yellow peas. The decision was implemented without public statements or diplomatic confrontation, but its impact has been widely felt—particularly in the US agricultural sector.

The tariff came into effect on 1 November 2025, following a routine government notification issued on 30 October 2025.

India US Tariff War: How the 30% Tariff Works

India US Tariff War: The duty includes a 10% basic customs duty and a 20% agricultural infrastructure and development cess. The rule applies globally and does not single out any country by name.

However, the economic consequences were most severe for the United States. India is the world’s largest consumer of pulses, while the US is a major exporter, especially of yellow peas.

Why US Farmers Were Hit Hard

States like North Dakota and Montana, leading pulse producers, rely heavily on access to the Indian market. Once the tariff was enforced, US-origin yellow peas became more expensive.

The issue entered the public spotlight only in January 2026, when US Senators Kevin Cramer and Steve Daines wrote to Donald Trump, urging him to engage India and seek tariff relief.

Background of the Trade Tension

During Donald Trump’s first term as US President, trade discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi included requests for lower Indian tariffs on pulses. While some concessions were discussed earlier, later US tariff actions on Indian goods altered the trade balance.

India’s response, however, was not immediate or vocal. Instead, it came through a policy mechanism that was legal, WTO-compliant, and quietly executed.

India’s Message on Agriculture

American lawmakers described the move as “unfair.” Indian policymakers, however, view it as a legitimate step to protect domestic farmers.

The approach reflects a clear stance: Indian agriculture is non-negotiable. The strategy relied on policy precision rather than political messaging.

Actor Mrunal Thakur is back in the spotlight after link-up rumours with Dhanush recently resurfaced online. A calm social media post by the Sita Ramam star grabbed attention amid all the speculations. Read on to know what she said in her FIRST post after her latest wedding rumours.

Mrunal Thakur Shares FIRST Post Amid Wedding Rumours With Dhanush

On Saturday, Mrunal shared a short video of herself standing on a boat. She was surrounded by the sea, soft sunlight and gentle breeze. The actress kept her hair open and showed a relaxed smile. This video quickly drew reactions from fans as it surfaced during ongoing chatter about her personal life.

While sharing the post, Mrunal wrote, “Grounded, glowing and unshaken.” Several fans took it as a quiet response to the wedding rumours.

Check out her post below

Mrunal To Marry Dhanush In February 2026?

A reliable source dismissed the marriage speculation. Speaking to HT City, the source said, “Mrunal is not getting married next month. This is a rumour which has caught wind.” The source also explained why the claims do not make sense.

Mrunal has multiple projects lined up. Her Hindi film Do Deewane Seher Mein (co-starring Siddhant Chaturvedi) is scheduled for release around the same time the wedding rumours suggest she would be getting married. According to the source, this timeline does not add up.

The source added, “She has a release scheduled for February, why would she get married in such close proximity to her film release? And then in March, she has another film’s release in Telugu in March.”

With back-to-back releases across languages, Mrunal appears focused on her career rather than personal milestones.

How Mrunal Thakur And Dhanush Dating Rumours Started

Speculation about Mrunal Thakur and Dhanush first picked up in August 2025 after a series of public moments. The buzz started when Dhanush attended the premiere of Mrunal’s film Son of Sardaar 2. A video showing the two sharing a warm hug and talking closely soon went viral.

The rumours gained further traction when Mrunal was spotted at the wrap-up party of Dhanush’s film Tere Ishk Mein, even though she was not part of the cast. Fans also noticed that she began following Dhanush’s sisters on Instagram, which added to the chatter.

Mrunal later addressed the rumours in an interview and laughed them off. She described the speculation as “funny” and clarified that Dhanush was “just a good friend”. She also said he attended the premiere at the invitation of her Son of Sardaar 2 co-star Ajay Devgn.

Kingmaker Eknath Shinde Turns to Resort Politics, Will BJP Buckle On BMC Mayor ? BJP-SS Rift Out in the Open

Eknath -Shinde

Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader, Eknath Shinde, has once again resorted to resort politics by shifting party MLAs to a hotel in the face of growing friction with the alliance partner Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Political analysts say that the gesture is part of Shinde’s strategy to shore up his support and, at the same time, serve a clear warning to the BJP that his faction still has the decisive power in Maharashtra’s political arena.

BMC Mayor Post at the Heart of the Tussle

Congress and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leaders have accused each other of instigating a crisis following the government’s change of guard. The Sena side made several attempts to coerce or bribe the MLAs in order to turn the tide in their favour. The BJP side slapped a lawsuit in the court against the MLAs who were lodged in the Mumbai hotel as a preventive measure against defection.

However, sources indicate that the talks between the BJP and Shiv Sena have reached a standstill as neither side is willing to give in to the other. Shinde’s bold move has led to speculations on whether the BJP will ultimately change its mind and, hence, save the alliance from breaking up.

BJP-Shiv Sena Rift Becomes Public

Eknath Shinde: On the one hand, leaders from both camps are making statements emphasising unity and cooperation, which are scandalously far from their actual intention, while their leaders are engaging in a vocal showdown and openly calling each other names. The BJP leaders, at the same time, are criticising the Shiv Sena leadership for their lack of vision, opportunism and creating unnecessary obstructions in the work of the government.

Kangana Ranaut: Emergency Actress Says AR Rahman Shedding Crocodile Tears, Makes Shocking Accusation On Masaba Gupta – ‘What About Their Own Hate…’

Kangana Ranaut Calls Out AR Rahman And Masaba Gupta

Actress-politician Kangana Ranaut has once again stirred controversy with strong remarks targeting Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman and fashion designer Masaba Gupta. The Emergency actor spoke about a past incident that left her feeling humiliated and deeply hurt. Kangana said the experience still affects her and described it as an example of “prejudice” that makes her “sick to the stomach”.

Kangana first spoke about the issue earlier through her Instagram Stories. On Saturday evening, she expanded on her claims with a series of posts on X, responding to questions raised after her initial statement went viral. Her comments have since sparked fresh debate on social media, with many reacting sharply to her allegations.

What Kangana Ranaut Alleged About Masaba Gupta

In her X post, Kangana questioned why images of her wearing Masaba Gupta’s designs were never shared or acknowledged by the designer or her brand. She wrote, “Designers get very excited whenever their brands get seen on celebrities. Have you seen Masaba or her brand handles use these images? These images were all over the Internet. Can you explain why won’t she use these images or why won’t the stylist tag her?”

Kangana then explained the context behind the incident. She said the episode took place around the time her film Tejas was nearing release. She wrote, “Those days Tejas was about to release, so I wanted to go for Ramjanm Bhumi darshan, I requested the same stylist who was styling me for Tejas events (they are hired by the production houses) to help me with the darshan trip as well.”

She further claimed that while Masaba had sent clothes for her film promotions, the situation changed when the designer was informed that the outfit would be worn for a Ram Janmabhoomi visit. Kangana said, “I don’t care many stylists and designers have banned me from their handles as well, but this particular incidence hurt me the most.”

The actress revealed, “Because Masaba sent the clothes to the stylist for my promotions but when she was told it’s for Ram Janmbhoomi she told the stylist not to use her clothes”. Kangana added that the stylist was kind and genuine, and discreetly told her not to tag Masaba or the brand. She also claimed the stylist paid for the saree herself.

By the time Kangana learned about the issue, she said she was already on her way to Ayodhya. She wrote, “The hate the bitterness, the prejudice, ewwww, how ugly !! Still makes me sick to my stomach !!”

Emergency Actress Takes Swipe At AR Rahman

In her earlier Instagram Stories, Kangana connected the incident to AR Rahman’s recent comments about facing bias in Bollywood. Recalling the same episode, she said, “One instance I will never forget is when I was wearing Masaba Gupta saree for Ram Janmbhoomi, and she told the stylist that I can’t go to Ram Janmbhoomi in her saree.”

She added, “I had already left from Lucknow for Ayodhya and it was not possible to change. I felt so humiliated and degraded that I quietly cried in my car.” Kangana claimed that later, like other designers she told the stylist not to mention her or her brand’s name.

Also taking a direct dig at the composer, she wrote, “Today AR Rahman ji is shedding crocodile tears, what about their own hate and prejudices?”

On the professional front, Kangana was last seen in Emergency, where she portrayed former prime minister Indira Gandhi. While reactions to her statements continue to pour in, neither Masaba Gupta nor AR Rahman has publicly responded to Kangana’s claims so far.

Delhi Pollution: Winter Chill, AQI Severe, Fog and Smog Hit Delhiites Hard, GRAP 4 Curbs in Place, What Lies Ahead?

Delhi- Pollution
Google

Delhi Pollution: The winter season in Delhi has come along with the tough truth of extreme air pollution. With the decrease in temperature, the city is once again covered by a dense fog and smog layer, a major problem for people living in Delhi

AQI Gets to Extreme as Smog Covers the City

Recently, the AQI in Delhi has gone beyond the danger level, making it almost impossible to see and difficult to breathe. Cold winds, low temperatures, and high moisture have contributed to the situation by keeping pollutants in the air. Mornings are the most affected time of day, when thick smog hides streets, buildings, and even flyovers.

Fog + Pollution = Double Trouble

The horror of winter fog combined with pollution has pushed the situation to alarming levels. Visibility has significantly decreased, negatively affecting road traffic, train operations, and flight operations.

GRAP Stage 4 Restrictions Reintroduced

The government has implemented GRAP Stage 4 measures to tackle the deteriorating air quality.

 The measures consist of:

  • Prohibition of construction and demolition works
  • Restrictions on the movements of non-essential diesel vehicles
  • Shutting down of specific industrial facilities
  • Severe inspections on the burning of dust and waste

Daily Life Hit Hard

Delhi’s inhabitants have been impacted by various ailments, from burning eyes to sore throats and incessant coughing. Health in schools is being monitored, and there is a decrease in attendance at offices.

What Lies Ahead for Delhi?

The experts believe critical conditions may persist for the next few days unless strong winds or rain help clear the air. Pollution levels are expected to rise and fall, not go down just as winter starts.

Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman is facing strong political reactions after comments he made about getting less work in Bollywood in recent years. His suggestion that the slowdown could be linked to a “communal thing” has sparked criticism from BJP leaders and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), turning the issue into a wider public debate.

Rahman made these remarks during an interview with the BBC Asian Network. He spoke openly about how work opportunities have changed for him over the past eight years. The composer said there has been a “power shift” in the Hindi film industry, with decision-making now in the hands of people who may not be creatively driven.

Rahman said, “People who are not creative have the power now to decide things and this might have been a communal thing also, but not in my face.” He added that he often hears about projects through “Chinese whispers” instead of being approached directly.

The comments quickly drew attention and reactions from political leaders, who strongly disagreed with Rahman’s suggestion.

Union Minister, VHP Criticise AR Rahman After His Controversial Comment

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy rejected Rahman’s claim and called it absolutely FALSE. Speaking to ANI, Reddy said, “AR Rahman’s comment today that he is not getting support in the film music industry because of being Muslim is absolutely false. The country has supported and received him as the number one music director in the country.”

Reddy also said that Rahman has always been respected by people across religions and communities. He felt it was unfortunate that religion was being brought into the conversation and added, “The people of the country have never seen Rahman through the lens of religion.”

Vishwa Hindu Parishad responded even more strongly. National spokesperson Vinod Bansal accused the composer of blaming the system instead of self-reflection. Referring to Rahman’s statement, Bansal said, “It seems that AR Rahman too has become a leader of the faction whose leader was once former Vice President Hamid Ansari.”

He added, “Hamid Ansari availed benefits for 10 years and held Constitutional posts. While retiring, he pulled down India.” Bansal claimed Rahman had always been loved by Indian audiences and questioned his comments. As quoted by ANI, he said, “He (AR Rahman) was adored by all Indians and Hindu people. Instead of looking within himself that why he is not getting work, he is badmouthing the system and defaming the entire industry. What does he want to prove?”

Bansal further escalated the attack by saying, “He was once a Hindu himself. Why did he convert to Islam? Do ‘gharwapasi’ now. Maybe you will start getting work once again. Such petty statements can be made by a politician, it does not suit an artist.”

What The Composer Said

In the same BBC interview, Chhaava music composer made it clear that he is not actively chasing projects. He said he prefers to let his work speak for itself. “I’m not in search of work. I want work to come to me; the sincerity of my work to earn things. I feel it’s a jinx when I go in search of things.”

Looking back at his early days in Bollywood, Rahman said he did not feel any bias when he entered the industry in the 1990s. “Maybe I didn’t get to know all this stuff. Maybe God concealed all this stuff.” However, he added that things may have changed in recent years due to power shifts.

Eknath Shinde: Resort Politics Returns to Mumbai as Shinde Sena Shifts Corporators to Luxury Hotel

Resort politics has resurfaced in Maharashtra’s political landscape after the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena moved its newly elected corporators to a five-star hotel in Mumbai amid intense post-election negotiations over control of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Eknath Shinde: Resort Politics Returns to Mumbai

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has reportedly instructed all corporators elected on his party’s ticket to stay together at a luxury hotel as a precautionary measure to ensure unity during ongoing discussions with alliance partners. The move comes at a time when political activity has picked up pace following the BMC results, with parties engaging in talks over key civic positions.

High-Stakes Power Play After BMC Results

The BMC, regarded as Asia’s richest municipal body, plays a crucial role in Mumbai’s governance and political influence. With no single party securing an overwhelming mandate, post-poll negotiations have become central to the formation of the civic administration. In this context, every corporator’s support is considered vital.

Sources indicate that the decision to house corporators at one location is aimed at preventing poaching and maintaining internal cohesion while seat-sharing and leadership formulas are discussed.

Alliance Talks and Mayoral Race

The development is also linked to negotiations within the ruling alliance over key posts, including the mayor’s position and control of important civic committees. Shinde Sena’s strength is being seen as critical in shaping the final power arrangement, making the party’s corporators central to the ongoing talks.

Opposition Reacts

Opposition parties have taken a swipe at the move, calling it a return of “resort politics”, a term often used to describe the practice of keeping elected representatives together during sensitive political negotiations. Critics have questioned the need for such measures, while supporters argue it is a common political strategy during uncertain post-election phases.

Political Uncertainty Continues

As negotiations continue behind closed doors, the political atmosphere in Mumbai remains fluid. The coming days are expected to be decisive in determining who will control the BMC and how power will be shared among alliance partners.
