Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday called out the BJP for attempting to turn Punjab into a laboratory of fear and violence ahead of elections, alleging that the recent bomb blasts in Amritsar and Jalandhar were part of a deliberate strategy to destabilise the state after the passage of the anti-beadbi law. Drawing parallels with West Bengal, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said the BJP thrives on creating communal tension, panic and unrest in poll-bound states to polarise voters, but asserted that peace-loving Punjabis would never allow the saffron party to destroy the hard-earned harmony of Punjab for electoral gains.

Addressing the media on the sidelines of the Shukrana Yatra, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The BJP is trying to create unrest in Punjab on the pattern of Bengal ahead of elections, but the people of Punjab are politically aware and united against such conspiracies.”

The Chief Minister stated, “Violence, divisiveness and communal tension are the patent of the BJP and an integral part of the saffron party’s politics. BJP is trying to incite violence and fear in Punjab on the pattern of Bengal to win the ensuing polls. However, BJP’s nefarious designs will never succeed in Punjab because anything can germinate on the fertile land of Punjab, but seeds of hatred can never grow here.”

Reaffirming the AAP Government’s commitment to maintaining peace, unity and democratic values, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said every Punjabi begins the day by praying for the wellbeing of all humanity. He asserted that Punjab has always stood as a symbol of communal harmony, resilience and brotherhood, and any attempt to disturb this atmosphere would be firmly resisted by the government and the people alike.

Condemning the recent blast incidents in the state, the Chief Minister said such incidents reflected the BJP’s brand of politics, aimed at spreading terror and panic to polarise society and garner votes. “This divisive politics is being pursued by the BJP in every poll-bound state for electoral gains. The people are already upset over the passing of the sacrilege act, and BJP wanted to exploit sacrilege incidents to create communal tension and make people fight among themselves,” he said.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann further stated that the passage of the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Amendment Act, 2026 had effectively foiled such conspiracies. “Now that the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026 has been passed, they will not be able to fulfil their nefarious designs. Frustrated by this, the BJP is now resorting to attempts to disturb the hard-earned peace of Punjab, but such moves will not be allowed at any cost,” he added.

The Chief Minister said these developments clearly indicate attempts to destabilise Punjab ahead of upcoming elections, but assured people that every such conspiracy would be defeated. “Punjab is a peace-loving state and Punjabis are politically aware and vigilant. They understand the divisive agenda behind such tactics,” he asserted.

Reiterating the state government’s zero-tolerance policy against activities threatening Punjab’s safety and integrity, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said those responsible for the blasts would soon be exposed and brought to justice. “All those involved in this heinous crime against humanity will be brought to book and put behind bars very soon. The strictest punishment will be ensured for these people because the Punjab Government has zero tolerance for any activity that threatens the peace, safety and integrity of Punjab,” he said.

Responding to queries regarding recent election results and allegations raised in other states, the Chief Minister said serious questions were being raised over the functioning and neutrality of the Election Commission of India, which he termed unfortunate and dangerous for democracy. “Questions surrounding the neutrality of the Election Commission are fatal for democracy. Doubts regarding the electoral process must be addressed transparently and the Election Commission should come forward to clear the air because such issues strike at the very core of democracy. This is nothing short of the murder of democratic values,” he said.

Reiterating the Punjab Government’s commitment to transparency, justice and public welfare, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann called upon the people of Punjab to remain united and vigilant against forces trying to disrupt the state’s harmony. He said it is the bounden duty of every citizen to safeguard Punjab’s peace and assured that the Punjab Government is leaving no stone unturned for the welfare and wellbeing of every section of society.

Bhagwant Mann intensifies anti-drug drive, 126 arrested in latest crackdown

Continuing its anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, Punjab Police has carried out a major crackdown across the state, arresting 126 drug smugglers in its latest operation.

According to official information, the police also recovered 614 grams of heroin, 733 intoxicant tablets and capsules, and ₹1,350 in drug money during the कार्रवाई.

Bhagwant Mann: Statewide raids conducted

The investigation was part of Day 430 of the ongoing anti-drug campaign, during which raids were conducted at multiple locations across Punjab. The campaign has been running as a sustained effort to curb drug trafficking and substance abuse.

Focus on rehabilitation

In addition to enforcement, authorities also focused on de-addiction efforts. Around 15 individuals were persuaded to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment, highlighting a dual approach of strict policing and social intervention.

Cumulative crackdown figures

Officials stated that since the launch of the campaign, a total of 62,639 drug smugglers have been arrested so far.

Zero-tolerance approach

As a devout and indebted Sikh, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday embarked on a Shukrana Yatra with full religious fervour after paying obeisance at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib in Sri Anandpur Sahib. Accompanied by Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said the yatra was being undertaken to express gratitude to the Almighty for blessing him with the opportunity to serve humanity by enacting the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act 2026, which provides for harsher punishment in ‘beadbi’ (sacrilege) cases.

Taking to X, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated: “From the sacred land where the Khalsa Panth was created, the ‘Shukrana Yatra’ has commenced. Gratitude is being offered at the feet of Guru Sahib for blessing us with the sacred responsibility of enacting a strict law to prevent beadbi. Prayers for Punjab’s peace and ‘Sarbat da Bhala’ will continue.”

Paying obeisance at the sacred Takht Sahib, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “My heart is indebted to the Almighty for bestowing upon me the opportunity to serve humanity through the enactment of the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Amendment Act 2026. We are fortunate that we have been entrusted with the responsibility of passing this historic legislation, which will help put an end to incidents of sacrilege in the future.”

He stated that sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was part of a deep-rooted conspiracy aimed at disturbing Punjab’s peace, communal harmony and brotherhood. “This Act ensures that anyone found guilty of this unpardonable offence will not be spared and exemplary punishment will be awarded to the perpetrators of this heinous crime. It will act as a deterrent and no one will dare to indulge in such acts in the future,” asserted CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.

Emphasising the emotional and spiritual bond Sikhs share with Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the Chief Minister stated, “Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is like a father to every Sikh and it is our bounden duty to protect its sanctity. People from across the globe are expressing happiness and gratitude over this historic step.”

Speaking about the Shukrana Yatra, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that from Sri Anandpur Sahib till May 9, he would pay obeisance at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Sri Damdama Sahib, Mastuana Sahib, Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib and Sri Fatehgarh Sahib. “The sole motive of this yatra is to thank the Almighty for giving me the strength and courage to pass this important Act,” he said, while thanking people who had gathered despite the scorching heat.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann remarked that he was merely an instrument chosen by Guru Sahib to carry out this sacred responsibility. “I am nobody to pass this Act. Guru Sahib himself has taken this service from me. God assigns such service only to those handpicked by Him. I am a humble servant of Guru Sahib who has been entrusted with this task,” he said.

He further stated that people from all sections of society had been demanding such legislation for a long time to prevent desecration incidents. “The sole purpose behind this Act is to assuage the bruised sentiments of people caused due to the negligence of previous governments. There is absolutely no political motive behind this legislation,” noted CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said people from across the world were calling daily to thank him for the initiative, but added that some individuals were opposing the Act merely because their political masters were unhappy. “It is unfortunate that some people are doing politics even on this sacred issue for their vested interests because they know they will soon have to face consequences for their grave sins,” he said.

Recalling his tenure as a Lok Sabha Member, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said he had successfully pursued the matter with former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to ensure that the House paid tributes to the Chotta Sahibzadas on their martyrdom day. “The entire Punjab observes that period as a month of mourning because the Chotta Sahibzadas were bricked alive by tyrannical rulers. More than 190 MPs represented Punjab before me, but none of them ever raised this issue in Parliament,” he said.

The Chief Minister stated that the Chotta Sahibzadas continue to inspire generations to fight against tyranny, injustice and oppression. Referring to the historical significance of Sri Anandpur Sahib, he said, “On April 13, 1699, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji created the Khalsa at this sacred land, marking a defining moment in history. On the same sacred day, our government passed this historic legislation against sacrilege.”

The Chief Minister also recalled the commemoration of the 350th martyrdom day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, during which a special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha was held at Sri Anandpur Sahib. “For the first time in history, the Punjab Vidhan Sabha was brought to the feet of Guru Sahib. During that special session, the Assembly unanimously decided to accord holy city status to Amritsar walled city, Talwandi Sabo and Sri Anandpur Sahib,” he said.

Highlighting the spiritual importance of Punjab in Sikhism, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that out of the five Takhts of Sikhs, three, Sri Akal Takht Sahib in Amritsar, Sri Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo and Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib in Sri Anandpur Sahib, are located in Punjab. “Keeping in view the long-pending demand of people, the Punjab Government has declared these cities as holy cities. No stone will be left unturned for their holistic development and there is no shortage of funds or resources for this noble cause,” affirmed CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.

Most people believe that calcium consumption could be counterproductive when in fact that dietary calcium plays a crucial role. It binds with oxalate in the intestines before it reaches the kidneys to reduce the quantity of oxalate that gets absorbed into the bloodstream before getting excreted in urine.

Ideally, you should consume dairy products such as milk, yogurt and paneer along with fortified plant-based milks, almonds and sesame seeds. Moreover, you should consume leafy green vegetables like spinach and kale in moderation as there may be the risk of oxalates in some green vegetables.

Moderate Salt Consumption

High salt consumption could increase the excretion of calcium via urine, translating to an increased risk of crystal formation. Modern diets, especially those rich in packaged and processed foods, may contain far more sodium than the body requires.

Therefore, you should avoid these foods and avoid adding extra salt at the table. Also, you should focus on cooking more meals at home where salt levels can be controlled and use herbs, spices, lemon and natural seasonings for flavour instead of salt.

The ambitious shoot of SS Rajamouli’s Varanas has run into an unexpected hurdle in Hyderabad. The film, which is currently filming large-scale underwater sequences, has reportedly faced a major setback after its request for 150 water tankers was denied amid a severe heatwave in the city. The situation has now put the shoot’s logistics under pressure.

The production team had approached the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) seeking thousands of litres of water to fill a specially designed pond for underwater scenes. However, officials refused the request, citing high water demand during the ongoing summer crisis. With limited resources already under strain, the denial has forced the makers to rethink their immediate shooting plans.

Varanasi Shoot Faces Hurdles Due To Heastwave

A Telangana Today report states that representatives of Sri Durga Arts, one of the producers of Varanasi, requested 150 water tankers of 10,000 litres each. The water was needed for high-quality underwater sequences being filmed at Hyderabad Film City in Gaganpahad.

The letter submitted to the authorities also mentioned that the water would be purified to meet cinematic standards. While the production house agreed to pay tanker charges, the request was turned down. Officials confirmed that no water tankers were allotted for the shoot.

The rejection comes at a time when Hyderabad is facing an intense heatwave. The HMWSSB is already under pressure to meet rising water demand across the city. Due to these constraints, large-scale supply for film productions has become difficult.

As a result, the Varanasi team is now reportedly scrambling to arrange water from alternative sources to avoid delays. Despite the setback, filming of underwater sequences is expected to continue through May.

Raja Shivaji Box Office Collection Day 5: The buzz around Raja Shivaji has been massive ever since its announcement. In the video, a young man and his friend could be seen arriving on a scooty. The friend goes at a distance from the scooty and suddenly realized that the scooty driver had accidentally come in close contact with a live transformer.

Suddenly, smoke starts to rise from the electrocuted boy’s body after catching fire because of the electric shock. The friend runs into a nearby home in a desperate attempt to seek urgent help. He returns with a few people but the scooty driver had already lost his life by then.
