New Alliance Brewing? Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey Come Together, Islamic NATO’s Possible Impact on India Explained, Check

Islamic- NATO

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey’s new defense agreement has sparked talk of an emerging ‘Islamic NATO.’ The strategic partnership could reshape regional security dynamics and raise questions about its possible impact on India.

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey Forge Alliance on Defence

Three countries Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, are signing a new Joint Defence Pact called the Mecca Agreement. It provides for a military response to an armed attack on one of the members as well as being compared with a similar arrangement within NATO.

Why is this being referred to as ‘Islamic NATO’?

The agreement has made analysts speculate about the possibility of an alliance involving various Islamic countries for their mutual military protection. But what needs to be understood is that there is no official ‘Islamic NATO’ formed yet by these three countries.

What does it mean for India?

This arrangement could draw some attention from the capital of India considering the close ties between Pakistan and Turkey in military affairs. Military co-operation between the trio could change the balance of power in South Asia and West Asia.Financial muscle of Saudi Arabia, defence capabilities of Turkey, and military expertise of Pakistan could add more heft to the group in case of further co-operation. There have been suggestions that some other countries, like Egypt, may join the fold in the near future.

India Keeps a Close Watch

For India, the key concern will be how far the arrangement develops beyond the current three-member framework. Any deeper military coordination involving Pakistan and other regional powers could have implications for India’s strategic calculations, particularly across the Middle East and South Asia.

Beadbi’ Party (Akali Dal) Has Lost All Credibility; Now Desperately Seeking Compromise With BJP To Revive Politics: Baltej Pannu

Baltej Pannu

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Media Incharge Baltej Pannu on Saturday said that the ‘Beadbi’ Party (Akali Dal) and its Chief Sukhbir Singh Badal had repeatedly compromised their political position for political gains and were now desperately seeking an understanding with the BJP.

Calling out Sukhbir Badal, AAP Punjab Media In-charge Baltej Pannu said, “Today Sukhbir Singh Badal is saying that he fully agrees with some of the Bills being brought by the BJP government at the Centre. But the people of Punjab remember very well that when the farm laws were introduced, the entire Badal family was seen making videos in support of those very laws.”

Baltej Pannu said that only after facing widespread public anger did the Badals change their position and begin speaking against the farm laws in an attempt to portray themselves as supporters of farmers.

Targeting the Akali Dal’s present political position, the AAP Punjab Media In-charge said, “The Akali Dal ‘Beadbi’ has fallen completely out of the hearts of the people of Punjab. Now, it is trying every possible way to reach a compromise with the BJP and revive its politics.”

Recalling Sukhbir Badal’s earlier statement regarding leaders joining the BJP, Baltej Pannu said, “Let me remind Sukhbir Singh Badal of his own words. He had said that those people who were joining the BJP would have to undergo a DNA test. I am not saying that anyone’s DNA should actually be tested, but when Sukhbir Badal himself made that statement, it is worth mentioning today.”

He said that the repeated U-turns of the Badal family had exposed the reality of the Akali Dal’s politics. He said that the people of Punjab could clearly distinguish between those who stood by their principles and those who changed their positions according to political convenience.

Baltej Pannu asserted that the people of Punjab had already rejected the politics of the Akali Dal and would not be misled by its latest attempts to seek political accommodation with the BJP.

Punjab Police’s ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ Completes 200 Days of Sustained Crackdown on Organised Crime, Conducts Over 1.09 Lakh Raids, Arrests 1,532 Proclaimed Offenders

Punjab Police

Punjab Police’s flagship anti-gangster ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ has completed 200 days, emerging as one of the state’s most sustained and comprehensive crackdowns on organised crime. During the operation, police conducted 1,09,087 raids across Punjab, arrested 1,532 proclaimed offenders, initiated action against more than 58,000 criminals and their associates, recovered a massive cache of illegal weapons and narcotics, and dealt a significant blow to organised criminal networks.

Launched under the leadership of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Government, ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ is an intelligence-driven campaign designed to dismantle organised crime syndicates through targeted enforcement, interstate and international coordination, financial investigations, and technology-driven policing.

On this momentous occasion, Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said the campaign has evolved into a multi-dimensional enforcement operation targeting not only gangsters but the entire ecosystem supporting organised crime. “The first 200 days of ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ have demonstrated the impact of sustained, intelligence-led policing. Our strategy goes beyond arrests to dismantling the ecosystem that enables organised crime by targeting associates, finances, logistics, communication channels and overseas linkages. Punjab Police remains committed to ensuring that there is no safe haven for gangsters operating within or outside the country,” he said.

During the 200-day operation, 1,532 proclaimed offenders (POs) were arrested, while action was initiated against 58,212 persons, including 853 gangsters and their associates and 57,359 wanted criminals.

As part of preventive policing measures, 28,201 persons, including 577 gangsters and their associates and 27,624 wanted criminals, were detained, while 18,514 persons, including 1,529 gangsters and their associates and 16,985 wanted criminals, were verified and subsequently released. Overall, police action during the campaign covered 1,04,927 persons, comprising 2,959 gangsters and their associates and 1,01,968 wanted criminals.

Beyond arrests, the campaign has focused on reducing the operational capability of organised gangs by targeting their access to weapons, narcotics, finances and logistical infrastructure.

The operation also substantially weakened the firepower of organised gangs, with Punjab Police recovering 990 illegal firearms, 242 sharp-edged weapons, 2,739 rounds of ammunition, 315 magazines, 2.5 kg of explosives and 15 hand grenades, significantly disrupting the operational capability of criminal networks.

Simultaneously, Punjab Police intensified its action against the organised crime-drug nexus by recovering 774.38 kg of heroin, 480.23 kg of opium, 7,266.26 kg of poppy husk and 26,91,455 intoxicant tablets. Police also seized drug money worth ₹1,73,41,965, cash amounting to ₹1,80,54,446 and 413.85 grams of gold, disrupting the financial channels that sustain organised crime and the narcotics trade.

Additional Director General of Police, Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), Pramod Ban said the operation has increasingly focused on dismantling organised crime networks rather than merely arresting individual offenders “Organised crime today functions through financial networks, digital communication and handlers operating from foreign soil. Accordingly, our investigations combine field operations with financial tracking, digital intelligence and close coordination with Central agencies. This approach has enabled Punjab Police to crack extortion rackets, identify foreign-based handlers and pursue the deportation and extradition of wanted criminals. At the same time, the campaign has sent a strong message to the youth that the glamour associated with gangster culture is nothing but an illusion leading to crime and destruction,” he said.

The campaign has also been supported through regular coordination with neighbouring states and Central investigation and intelligence agencies, enabling seamless information sharing and joint operations against organised crime networks.

One of the defining achievements of the campaign was the successful deportation of fugitive gangster Bhuvnesh Chopra alias Ashish Chopra, son of Hira Lal, resident of #15, inside Delhi Gate, Ferozepur from Central Asia and gangster Jobanjit Singh alias Joban Billa from Jakarta, Indonesia. Executed by the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) in close coordination with OFTEC Punjab and Central agencies, the operation underscored Punjab Police’s growing capability to pursue wanted criminals beyond national borders and ensure they are brought back to face the law.

Besides targeting gangsters and their associates, the operation also resulted in the recovery and destruction of 64,402.77 litres / 34,840 bottles / 926 boxes of illicit liquor, seizure of 4,978 mobile handsets used in criminal activities, and impounding of 1,781 vehicles and 61 drones. Collectively, these actions have disrupted criminal infrastructure, weakened organised crime networks and reinforced Punjab Police’s sustained commitment to enhancing public safety across Punjab.

Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has also launched a dedicated tipline, 93946-93946, enabling citizens to anonymously share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and related criminal activities. The initiative allows the public to confidentially provide actionable intelligence without fear of exposure, helping the AGTF swiftly track down and apprehend gangsters and other criminals.

To further strengthen public participation, the AGTF has also introduced a reward policy offering cash incentives for credible information leading to action against wanted gangsters and criminals, while ensuring complete confidentiality of informants. The initiative is expected to significantly bolster intelligence-led operations against organised crime across Punjab.

UPI Payment Charges: Will Users Have to Pay? PCI Clarifies, Consumers Get Major Relief

Concerns over possible charges on UPI payments have been eased after the Payments Council of India (PCI) clarified that ordinary consumers will continue to use UPI without transaction charges.

The clarification comes amid growing discussion over the possibility of introducing a Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) on certain UPI transactions. The issue had triggered confusion among users about whether they would eventually have to pay a fee every time they made a digital payment.

UPI Payment to Remain Free for Consumers

According to the PCI, consumers will not be charged for making UPI payments. Small merchants, including neighbourhood shops, are also expected to remain outside the proposed charging framework.

This means that everyday person-to-person UPI transfers and routine digital payments will continue to remain free for users, providing relief to millions who rely on UPI for daily transactions.

What Is the UPI Charge Debate About?

The current discussion is primarily focused on whether larger commercial merchants should pay a nominal MDR on selected transactions. Recent proposals have considered charges on certain higher-value merchant transactions, rather than imposing a fee on ordinary customers.

The proposed framework is aimed at creating a sustainable revenue model for banks and payment service providers while supporting investments in technology, cybersecurity and fraud prevention.

Small Merchants Also Get Relief

The PCI has specifically indicated that small merchants will not be burdened with UPI charges. This is significant for local shops and small businesses that depend heavily on digital payments from customers.

Anurag Dhanda Questions Chhattisgarh SI Result Over Unusual Names and Dates

anurag-dhanda

Aam Aadmi Party leader Anurag Dhanda has questioned the credibility of the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) Sub-Inspector (SI) examination results, pointing to several unusual entries allegedly appearing in the list of successful candidates.

In a social media post, Dhanda shared screenshots and details that he claimed were from the CGPSC SI result list. He highlighted entries featuring names such as “SPACERANI,” “NEWS” and “TUFAIL,” along with what he described as unusual or incorrect dates of birth.

Anurag Dhanda Targets BJP-Ruled States

Taking a political swipe at BJP-ruled states, Dhanda alleged that the examination system had been turned into a “joke.” He questioned how such entries could appear in an official examination result and called for scrutiny of the process.

Among the examples cited in his post was a candidate entry showing a date of birth of April 30, 3000, which appears to be an obvious anomaly if accurately reproduced in the result data. Other entries highlighted by Dhanda also contained dates that he suggested warranted examination.

Questions Over CGPSC SI Result Data

The AAP leader specifically referred to the CGPSC SI result and raised questions over the authenticity or accuracy of the information appearing against certain candidates.

However, the social media post itself does not establish whether the unusual names or dates resulted from errors in the published result, data-entry mistakes, formatting issues or another technical problem. Independent verification from CGPSC or the relevant authorities would be required before drawing conclusions about the examination process.

Political Debate Over Recruitment Exams

The issue has added to the wider political debate over the transparency and reliability of competitive recruitment examinations in India. Opposition parties frequently raise concerns over examination administration, while governments and recruiting bodies are expected to ensure that candidate data and results are accurately published.

Jharkhand News: Hemant Soren Urges People to Plant Fruit-Bearing Trees, Calls for Collective Action to Protect Forests

Hemant Soren

News: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren urged people attending Van Mahotsav to plant at least one fruit-bearing or locally useful tree and take responsibility for nurturing it like a member of their family.

Highlighting the importance of indigenous trees, Soren said species such as mahua, jackfruit, jamun and karanj contribute far beyond increasing green cover. According to him, these trees support rural livelihoods, nutrition, the local economy and biodiversity.

Soren said that if thousands of people participating in the programme each plant a tree and commit to keeping it alive, the collective effort could become a powerful people-led environmental movement—potentially more impactful than any government campaign alone.

Jharkhand News: Focus on Green Initiatives in Cities

The Chief Minister also highlighted initiatives aimed at increasing greenery in urban areas. He said the state government has introduced incentives, including free electricity-related benefits for people who plant trees, to encourage greater public participation in urban greening.

However, Soren stressed that government incentives alone are not enough. He called for environmental responsibility to become a personal commitment among citizens.

‘Jal, Jungle and Zameen’ Is a Shared Responsibility

Appealing to the public, Soren said the protection of water, forests and land should not be viewed solely as the responsibility of the government. He urged citizens to consider environmental conservation a shared duty.

He said that ensuring trees survive after plantation is as important as planting them in the first place, making community participation central to the success of Van Mahotsav.

‘No Cash, No Farmaish’: CM Bhagwant Singh Mann Hands Over Govt Job Appointment Letters To 866 Youth

Punjab news

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government is continuing its mission of providing government jobs to Punjab’s youth, with CM Bhagwant Singh Mann handing over 866 more appointment letters handed over in Mohali on Saturday, taking the total number of government jobs provided in just four-and-a-half years to 69,094. The Chief Minister said the transparent recruitment process had replaced the old system where cash and recommendations were considered essential for securing a government job.

The Chief Minister pointed out that the growing confidence of the youth in the system and the declining trend of migration abroad reflected the impact of providing opportunities on the basis of merit. Highlighting Punjab’s progress in education, he said the State had surpassed Kerala to rank first in the country, with 882 government school students clearing NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) serving as proof of the transformation.

Sharing a few snippets from this occasion, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated on X: “Today, appointment letters were handed over to 866 youth in Mohali. Our government has so far provided 69,094 government jobs with complete transparency. The confidence of the youth in the system has increased, while the trend of moving abroad has declined.”

“In education, Punjab has today surpassed Kerala to rank first in the country. The success of 882 government school students in NEET is proof of this. The potential of our youth is immense; we are only providing them with the right direction. The wings are yours, and we will provide you with the sky. Congratulations to everyone,” the post concluded.

Addressing the gathering after distributing theappointment letters, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “These 866 appointments include 636 candidates of the Health & Family Welfare Department, including 614 Staff Nurses and other staff comprising 03 Pharmacists, 13 Multi-purpose Health Workers (Male), 02 Ward Attendants, 01 Class-IV employee and 03 Sweepers. Besides, 101 candidates have been appointed in Sugarfed, 57 as Junior Auditors, 51 in the Defence Services Welfare Department, 11 in the Cooperative Department and 10 candidates as Law Officers in the Home Department.”

Speaking about the recruitment process, the Chief Minister said, “Hard work and dedication have been the sole criteria for selection. Gone are the days when jobs were given on the basis of bribery or recommendations. Today, the State Government gives jobs to eligible candidates. All appointments have been made purely on the basis of merit, transparency and fairness, without any recommendation or political influence.”

Referring to the earlier situation in Punjab, he said, “The previous governments totally ignored the interests of the people and were only concerned with their own welfare, so how could they think about the common people? They indulged in rampant corruption and favouritism in doling out jobs only to their near and dear ones.”

Talking about the impact of transparent recruitment, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann affirmed, “The immensely talented youth of Punjab were forced to move abroad, thereby jeopardising the socio-economic development of the State. However, we reversed this trend after assuming power in 2022. The State Government has succeeded in creating employment opportunities for youth in every village, town and city of Punjab.”

Highlighting the role of education in empowering the youth, he said, “Special attention has been paid by the present government towards improving the lot of government schools, which was undertaken with a missionary zeal. Government school teachers were sent abroad to Singapore and Finland, besides IIM Ahmedabad, for advanced training so that they could acquaint themselves with the latest methods of teaching and improve the learning outcomes of students.”

Talking about infrastructure upgrades, the Chief Minister Mann noted, “Structural upgrades have also been carried out in government schools in terms of new furniture, IT-enabled teaching modules, well-equipped libraries and sanitation facilities. Campus managers have also been appointed in government schools to take care of their development-related needs.”

Highlighting the results of these efforts, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The concerted efforts of the State Government have borne fruit. In the 2026 NEET examination, as many as 882 students cleared the exam, whereas in 2021, a mere 80 students were able to do so.”

Speaking about Punjab’s performance in school education, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The strenuous efforts of the State Government have led to Punjab beating Kerala to occupy the top spot in terms of education and infrastructural upgrades of government schools. The State Government has prioritised education and taken path-breaking initiatives in the sector to transform the lives of people.”

Emphasising the importance of education, he asserted, “No freebie or concession card can eliminate poverty or other social maladies in the State, but education is the key that can pull people out of this vicious circle by raising their standard of living. Education is the light that illuminates the world by dispelling darkness. The State Government is therefore laying special thrust on it and firmly believes that every child deserves access to quality education irrespective of his or her economic background.”

Talking about the transformation in Punjab’s school education ranking, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “When I assumed charge of office, the State was on 27th rank in school education. It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that today Punjab is number one in this field.”

Speaking about equal opportunities for children from common families, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The State Government is making concerted efforts to give impetus to the education sector. The government’s initiatives are aimed at ensuring that children from common families get the same opportunities to excel as anyone else. Education is the strongest tool for empowering future generations and building a prosperous Punjab, and the State Government will leave no stone unturned to strengthen it.”

Highlighting the credibility of the recruitment process, the Chief Minister said, “Several young candidates have successfully secured government jobs multiple times in different departments, reflecting the credibility and competitiveness of the recruitment process. This is neither the first such achievement nor will it be the last. These officers will continue to achieve new milestones and bring laurels to the State in the years to come.”

Congratulating the newly appointed youth, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The children of ordinary families are proving that with dedication, perseverance and proper guidance, no goal is beyond reach. The future of Punjab is bright as the achievements of these youth are a reflection of the talent, determination and aspirations of our people.”

Highlighting the achievements of girl students, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Daughters are excelling in every sphere of education and competitive examinations. Girls have consistently outperformed in every field in the State and are rapidly emerging as role models for society, provided they are given a chance. These daughters are demonstrating extraordinary talent and determination and their achievements send a powerful message that, given equal opportunities and encouragement, girls can accomplish anything they set their minds to.”

Urging the newly appointed youth to remain humble, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “You have worked hard and burnt the midnight oil to achieve these positions, and the sky is the limit for you. Continue striving for higher jobs and greater success, but do not feel proud of your achievement. Stay humble, remain grounded and continue to work hard.”

Calling upon the new recruits to serve society, the Chief Minister said, “You have now become an integral part of the Government family. Use your pen to help the needy and underprivileged sections of society and ensure maximum welfare of the public so that every section of society benefits from your service. This is the real service of mankind, for which every new appointee should play a key role.”

Wishing the appointees success in their future endeavours, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “I wish every one of you the very best for life. Continue dreaming big and working hard to turn those dreams into reality. Utilise this platform to become successful, but besides that, strive to become a fine human being and contribute to society.”
